Amazon won the rights to the new gTLD .BOOK by knocking out eight competitors which included Google and Donuts.
The applicants for .Book top level domain included Minds + Machines, Global Domain Registry, Google, Donuts, Famous Four, .Straat and R.R. Bowker LLC
The auction was private and hence, the final price will not be disclosed.
This is an important acquisition for Amazon considering the fact that their Kindle is the most widely used platform for ebooks.
