Does anyone know of a replacement program for Ultra Whois?
I used to use this all the time, as it was fast and furious... but now as I am on DSL, it keeps crashing my router :( and I can't get any lists done.

Any suggestions?

I started making my own SupaWhois utility, but haven't had the time to develop it recently.

You could try Domain Name Analyzer. Hope it's ok.

Wow nice tool.

Will this get you banned for WHOIS abuse?

It's useful, along with SamSpade for Windows. I find both much more useful than having to fire up a web browser to WHOIS a domain name.

It's a pity someone doesn't make a throttled version of UltraWHOIS.

That should be good. No need for people to go to your web site anymore! ;)

The IP address from which you have visited the VeriSign Registrar WHOIS database is contained within a list of IP addresses that may have failed to abide by VeriSign's WHOIS policy. Failure to abide by this policy can adversely impact our systems and servers, preventing the processing of other WHOIS requests.

yeh.....it apparently rotates about 5 whois one of which is networksolutions so yeah you will be banned (at least from one of them) by using UltraWhois. You will also crash the program if you put in too many domains. :)

I would be able to write a whois php script with rotating IP's (youll have to collect new proxys yourself every day, but thats not too hard).

This way you would be able to gather whois data from netsol without limitations.

Would anybody be interested for say 50$ ?

Post here or PM me.

Why pay if you can use web based whois from www.needguide.com WebQuery Tool. The tool provide whois, IP owner, DNS record, run NMAP (for security assessment).

Check it out, you have to create your FREE account before you use it.

Cheers,
tw

what one wants is a bulk check tool that saves whois record together with domain name in a database that is easily queried for exp date, owner, emailaddress. Does needguide provide that?

Sorry to open an old thread. I had been using the ultra whois in "ultrascan" mode with many times over a thousand and it never gave a single problem or whois block issue but the program has not been updated for a very long time with no replies back. It was very fast. Does anyone know of any other program that works the same exact method and speed. PM me if needed for any alternatives or suggestions.

I have all this bulk whois programmed (myself) and I have been using it for nearly ten years. If you want to do whois in REAL bulk then PM me. My system can do about 65,000 per day on a single machine without getting a banned IP address. It will not work if you have a static IP. I have also written parsers for the major registries' output which puts the data in importable Excel format. Works from the command prompt. Syntax is:

bulkwhois [inputfile]

Currently works on all .COM .NET .BIZ .INFO

Can be tailored for specific requirements. You will also need Cygwin or LinuxTools or a Linux partition, or I can write the necessary Linux utilities as Win programs.

Will sell (and maintain) the bulk whois tool for $300 and database parsers for $750 each, or complete package with all parsers for $4000.

Parsers available:

Bulkregister
Dotregistrar
Enom
Netsol
Register
Opensrs

Anyone want to help me market this?

Caveat: Registries state that bulk querying is not allowed. You need to make your own legal interpretation of the whois policy statements. Some folk will say that it's public data anyway, others will say that it's not correct practice. Whatever -- I don't want to start that debate. I use it for demographic research.

Cheers!
