I recently acquired this domain. It came with a site and some small traffic (100+ visitors a day), but might develop this into something else.

Appraisals welcome on the domain name.

Hi Adam,

I believe fussyfever referred to your sig links; personally I don't find them offensive but you might want to check with the moderators.

About announce.com - that's a stellar name. I own the noun of the same verb in .net

In terms of undeveloped value, it's definitely worth 3 x the amount you paid for it :-D

Gotcha. If the mods find any of the links inappropriate, I'll remove them from my sig.

Then I wish I paid more for it. ;)

Do you mean www.announce.com or my signature links?

Adam

This name screams "Wedding Announcement" site... Weddings are lucrative, so I am putting this name in the mid to upper $xx,xxx range

Best of luck with it. As far as your sig links, I think they are descriptive enough for the "average" person to realize what is on the other side if you clicked on them. I clicked on the "gamelinks.com" page and found that to be a very decent site.

I'm guessing it's the quantity of links - I thought only 2 were allowed.

I'm not sure why I don't own a wedding domain. Methinks I need to get one. Just think about the business as a whole: You offer services to people who don't know how to say "no"... Other than the porn business this sector would be very profitable. The only problem is the saturation. If I were in the .biz I'd go after a niche market. (gays in NY--while the judges order stands), Bi-racial, ethnic, etc.

Niche markets limit you. This is the type of name that the global world could use so
niche 20000 people global 300000000 people could use. I would take .25 for global than 1.00 niche since we are in it for the money. Plus a industry of impulse buyer's seem a little more profitable. locater to registry's with you affilite links and so on seems alot more exclusive. And the advertiser's you could get on you site. It seem's to me this is the only domain name you'll ever need.

Everybody does one of these at least once

wedding's baby showers death's

If you are just starting out with a domain (unless it is established) it's better to focus on one market--for many reasons!! Amazon.com started out with books, then as they grew and became known went off into many directions.

I agree about the wedding angle. I've actually been considering setting up an Evite-like website, which would do weddings, baby announcements, birthdays, and so forth.

You offer services to people who don't know how to say "no

LOL. How true it is! :)

I think this name has a better market as a company brand. Announce screams marketing, publications, advertising (esp. billboard, skywriting, etc.) or even telecommunications (esp. VoIP). Sky's the limit. Very dynamic and powerful.

To the right buyer, I'd say mid $xx,xxx.

Good luck!
