Hey guys and gals.
I havn't been back here for a while but I am interested to see if any thoughts had changed on this question I asked around 4 years ago

Genuinly interetested in your thoughts. Have held a reasonable portfolio for a while and thought I might test the waters again on their value.

Cheers

Hi guys

great looking forum, just found it and learning heaps as I read through.

I am curious, how does the rest of the world (outside little old New Zealand) rate the value of .co.nz domains?

eg, what would you think something like shoes.co.nz would be worth?

would it only hold value to a NZ based business or site would others use it?

Hi Dingo,

I think it would only hold value in New Zealand.

If you are not going to develop it, and are only registering it for resale, I would say you will probably have a hard time of it. It's difficult enough trying to re-sell .COM's...

I have never seen a .CO.NZ name before... Are they being promoted by the New Zealand government, or by businesses over there? If so, then it may be worth registering if it's a very common word/product... So, I guess with your example, shoes.co.nz could be worth something to a New Zealand business, but don't count on it. It's a gamble.

Just my opinion... :)

Similiar to .COM.AU... :)

Thanks Manic.

Appreciate your honesty.

I look at .co.nz all the time and I am not Kiwi.

The great thing about the sites found under xx.nz is the pride of the owners (100% Kiwi owned). So we have a solidarity element that I think makes co.nz a solid investment for a local business or establishement.

The problem may be (and I have some experience in this) that if I set up a co.nz site from the good 'ol USA, visitors may question my intersest as an opportunistic "investment" and perhaps an attempt to disturb the local economcic balance.

Hey I love NZ end especially it's people, by the way, and thus my interest.

I need to reg a .co.nz for a customer, can anyone recommend a good hosting company (cheap would be nice also!)
Ta!

I think people here undervalue something good like one of the few developed countries in the world where English is the main language but IPERvalue something like .cc , Cocoa Islands where how many people live there?

In NZ there are 4 millions of people, nearly all of them speak English and it`s the number 1 or number 2 country in the world for internet users in %.

there are no restrictions (.com.au has instead restrictions) and I got some too to keep.

Thanks Dragon.

I tend to agree. It's a relatively small country but people are very active wih the internet. In fact a local guy just sold his online auction business here to an Australian company for around US$450 Million.

I will continue to hang on to these and sell the odd one or two when the price is right.

Thanks for your comments.
