Anyone know how we can easily setup a page like chicago.com and sell email addresses at our own domains?

Looking for host with this solution or mail server with this solution so it is automated. Check chicago.com to see what I am after.

https://identity.chicago.com/

thanks in advance,

i had the same idea a little while ago too - i would also like to know.

it would also help if it gave automatic alternatives if your name was already taken.

I'm using Google apps for email. I like their anti-spam and anti-virus solution built in to the email.

I use the subdomain to check the email availability, once the customer successfully paid the service then I can "manually created their email address based on subdomain. I have it working for a while live at www.webew.com

I like hivemail but I have not install it yet.

Hope this help.

That seems to be a pretty decent business model. I read an article a few months back about this and they mentioned that money was flowing in like crazy. I think NYC.com was also going to be doing this.

Adam, which site are you planning to do this on? DNForum?

Interesting idea for a premium domain but the pricing is way too steep at chicago.com. They want $749 a year for [email protected].

Tucows has a division call Hover with a similar set up using cleveland.me. Brown.me is another one. Same with Vermont.me and Statecollege.me. It looks like dot me's are popular for these email address set up. I however can't find anyone providing/hosting this service though. It's a damn good idea!

Rackspace is just one of several that you can brand your own email.
