Hi everyone. I am interested to know what others think on this type of domain. My view is that I like them very much. There are obviously drawbacks, like very little if any type in traffic. And they only work with 4 letter words so that they look right. However even with the hyphen they work with search engines & ta-lk shows up 1.5 Billion with google! Now I know ta-lk isn't going to get typed in, but if it was a developed site, would it feature as close to the generic 'talk' when entered into an engine. I know it also falls down if someone wanted radio advertising for example & you had to say visit 't' 'a' hyphen 'l' 'k' dot com.
However on the upsides, I think a very attractive domain. Short, 5 characters & with everything gone, I think the best alternative to the word. ( & cheap) I believe it to be very memorable once seen, on a poster or vehicle livery for example. What do you think? What could it's potential value be? There are still some 4 letter words still available in this format. The best ones are gone.

The other comment was, talk.com would be better? What a statement! I wouldn't have guessed that. Surely there are people out there that can see potential in other angles?!!! Cheers for peoples time anyway.

its not an ill thought, you posted here for opinions/appraisals. It is not worth much at all. It is bad for SEO since it would be looked at as "TA / LK" not as "TALK" one word. Also it is the only extension registered. You registered it 6 days ago if it was that big of a charm it would have been picked up allready. Im not sure what kind of a site/business you could develop. Most would get it confused with talk.com. I see no use to it.

Just my thoughts....

Thanks for your posting. By illthought, I meant illthought out, as up till know everyone had just put zero, without explaining. Also i did mention that there are some 4 letter words still available, I have a few of the ones I like & will continue to hold them as convinced of future potential. If they are to have future financial value it will only be the .coms I would think & they would need to be developed as I mentioned before. I stand by the fact that they are memorable & attractive to look at. Given the choice of spending x millions of dollars on talk.com or ta-lk.com for $8, you can see the added attraction. These type of domains give potential to people with good ideas who can develop sites rather than registering another milliondollartypehomepage domain or another latest technology domain with a name hooked on the end which will be outdated by the next emerging technology.
i appreciate everyones views though, just yet to hear any opposing view that can outweigh my pluses as have already conceded it will get very little type in traffic before development. Where else does it fall down? for $8

its true that talk.com would be worth millions but that doesnt mean ta-lk.com is worth anything. i still dont think its worth the $8. You cant just put a hyphen in the middle of a good word and have it be worth something. business.com sold for millions but if you have busi-ness.com it wouldnt be worth anything either.

There are still 4 letter words available but you will have to look for them and pay around 15k for a total bargain.

In fact $15k would probably be a very cheap buy for a brandable English dictionary 4 letter word with traffic. Of course the most recent sale was bike .com at $500,000 but still.....keep looking!

ta-lk would lose customers to talk .com so nobody would ever bother to develop it. Also it would be a pain to market via radio having to spell it out each time. Therefore I agree with the zero valuations above.

I had a look for 4 letter .coms for you. My favourite is Cafe .com at $500k. I am sure that will sell soon. Next I see Tick .com at $60k and I think the owner of Have .com was looking for $30k.
