Any brandable name that you can dream up cannot be worth 24K if there is no other meaning. If it was then all you would have to do is sit around in your underwear and register a few per year and you wouldn't have to work.

Who would go to college? Who would ever get a regular job?

All paid appraisals are scams, and there are no exceptions. Those registrars that are doing appraisals need to have something that pays the bills and they capitalize on the ignorance of the masses.

I would consider calling an appraisal legit if the appraiser would be willing to buy the name off of you for just 10 percent of the appraisal. Since this will never happen then I suggest you take your loss and move on.

An appraisal is the equivalent of an ugly girl asking her mother if she is ugly. The response will never be the truth because its not in anyone's best interest to tell the truth. Any company that charges for appraisals is inherently dishonest and they know it. That doesn't mean that you cannot have your names there, but it does mean that you need to be skeptical about what other type of garbage they may try to sell you. Traffic Blazer, anyone?

As a general rule, if you aren't receiving unsolicited email inquiries about your names then the names aren't that great. That doesn't mean you can't find someone to give you a few thousand once in a while. One man's trash is another man's treasure. Zyan.com isn't that bad, you might have trouble selling it for $100, or you might sell it for $2,000. That's why you need to be a domain artist...to maneuver through it all and get maximum value.

any name can be worth a million if someone wants to pay for it.

Just the other day I sold a 4 letter.com for $6000 and I wouldn't of paid $6 for it, in fact I was letting it expire, the domain makes no sense and means nothing to me.. But It must mean something to someone.

But that doesn't have anything to do with an appraisal. Any guy can get the girl, but George Clooney and Brad Pitt will always get the girl.

An appraisal implies that there is a defined market where one can somewhat pinpoint a price range and be comfortable with that range.

To say that "a domain is worth what someone else will pay for it" is not insight, as the same could be said about any product in the world. Really, the only names that are worthy of appraisals are names that are very good...if not great. The irony is that if you are smart enough to own one of the best names then you are smart enough not to get an appraisal.

This name does not automatically ever have to be sold for more than $100, though it sure is better than many that have sold for much more.

It just doesn't lend itself to a legitimate appraisal because very few names do. If you follow the domain industry every day and you study the sales then you will have an understanding of the values of domain names that will allow you to profit...you will know a good deal when you see it. Everything else is pretty much bullshit that is not in your best interest.

AllForDomains is the biggest scam

They email you telling you they are interested in buying your domain but you need to get an appraisal done there and then they dissappear and you just wasted $69.00
