I just wanted to throw out a couple thoughts on the appraisals and sales threads here.

*On the appraisals, I think it would be best to receive opinions of value on extensions other than .com from people who have some idea of the market for these rather than the continual "$0" or "reg fee" comments from the members of the .com only crowd. It seems obvious that some members use almost every appraisal request for anything other than .com to attempt to further their campaign against the depreciation of their com holdings by degrading any other extension. Don't get me wrong, I'm not anti-com and hold over 5000 of them myself, but this is just wrong.

I've found that it is not uncommon to find the .net extension being used in Asia without the registration of the .com. True, marketing to Asia is difficult for some, but I think the wide margins given coms over nets is overstated. Also, the .info extension is much more popular in Europe than many in the .com crowd wish to admit. For example, I've sold 35 infos in the last 60 days or so that have averaged a price of $2700 to the wholesale market. These were sold at an estimated 33% of retail. Granted, they were all tier 1 names, but with the prospects for the future of that extension, I can only think that the buyers got the best of each of those deals. I also think the the U.S. extension is way undervalued currently and the best buy for your money going right now.

*On the sales, I think that the use of the words "Great" or "Premium" or "Super" etc. are way overplayed. Sure, it's somewhat in the eyes of the beholder, but I for one am tired of checking every "great names" post only to find pretty much worthless stuff. Could we possibly start to use some other label such as Tier1, Tier2 or Tier3 for names in each extension? For example, each extension could have it's own Tier measurement as in Motherboard.com would be a Tier 1 com or Motherboard.info would be a Tier 1 info. Top 1 word landrush names are typically Tier 1 names for their respective extension.

Does anyone think we could come up with some other forum accepted measurement for these names? Possibly tweaking Mudfences appraisal system (which I think is the closest we've come imho) and give it a stamp as the Dnforum appraisal method?

Ok, I've said my piece. Thoughts?

Agree.

Besides based on mudfence's system, we should have another factor of appraisal, eg: who the buyer is.

Congrats. $100K with just .INFO is very nice!

How many others did you get in the landrush? :)
