Does anyone know if .cm are worth registering?

Maybe they get a lot of misspelled typo traffic?

For example, someone types in money.cm instead of money.com and are redirected somewhere else.

Also, anyone know of a tool that can give you the monthly searches for typo traffic when people type in the domain in their browsers?

Hi

here's a previous discussion on .cm names if you care to read:

http://www.dnforum.com/f557/what-cm-domain-name-have-you-won-auction-pre-order-thread-384156.html

also, some tools claim to give search results for terms, but they are not very accurate....especially when you factor in all the domainers who use the tool for kw searching

imo...

If you think typo is good business, then go ahead.

IMHO that's supporting a bad business. It will only add disgrace to domain name business.

Again, IMHO only.

I was thinking, for example, a site that already gets 500k plus unique visitors a month, and you buy the .cm extension for the domain. You would get some traffic and conversions I'm assuming.

Anyone done that?

That is generally the idea behind the .CM extension, but be VERY wary of registering any domains that have trademark issues. It's not just $7 on the line if WIPO comes your way.

Personally, I own one premium [geo].CM with an undeveloped .COM counterpart. I get virtually no visitors, but I have received a few unsolicited offers that would allow me to get back the auction+registration costs. I am holding out for now, but am definitely looking to sell if the right offer comes along. Do I regret the .CM I won? No. Do I plan on buying more? Not a chance - it just doesn't make sense outside of the uber-premium generic and geo domains IMHO.

you probably should just go ahead and spend your money on a few .cm domains and see for yourself

if you "read" the thread to the link i provided, you would find some history behind .cm before it's release to the gp

also, if the forum would consolidate .cm and other cctlds discussions in their respective sections, it would be easier for you to get some knowledge
