I think if God showed up and pulled his usual crap, like destroying cities, turning people to salt, and trying to drown everyone on the planet, humanity would finally unite to kick his lily white butt out of this universe.

I believe in science over God. I was raised in the catholic religion and I always thought it was weird when I asked questions and I'd get looked down upon. For example, I remember during Christmas mass they were explaining how god created the heavens and the earth. I looked up to my father and asked him, "What happened to the Dinosaurs?" And I had gotten shushed by everyone around me like it was wrong to question their religion, lawl...

I'm not an atheist, but I asked the pastor of our church that same question when I was a small lad, he welcomed the question and gave a reasonable answer. I spent countless hours at the La Brea Tar Pits / Page Museum as a boy, not a chance missing Biblical excerpts regarding dinosaurs was going to get by me.

You left out my favorite - Having some guy demonstrate his "great faith" by telling him to stab his eight day old child to death.
Now, when some guy is willing to kill his baby because a voice told him to - that guy is so "faithful", he is the basis for three entire major religions.

Q.) Why can't Science and Religion get along?
A.) Science and Religion can get along just fine, provided that religious zealots don't try to employ pseudo-science to further the dogmatic indoctrination of children through public education.
The problem lies in the fact that (for the most part) idiots like Kent Hovind (the convicted fraudster) and Ken Ham (creation museum) use misinformation and lack peer review before presenting their information as fact. Having gone to the creation museum myself, as an agnostic/atheist, I can say that the museum is academically dishonest and presents absolutely no evidence of creation. Meanwhile, its scientific arguments are easily falsifiable.
I'm offended by the fact that religion says that evolution is only a theory (as if it can't be shown). Evolution can be shown in everything from bacteria to plants to animals to humans themselves.
The next major issue is transitional fossils. This is the dreaded "crockoduck" argument presented by Kirk Cameron and Ray Comfort. If you're not sure what I'm talking about, Google the term. Transition doesn't occur between.. say... a crocodile turning into a duck.. its actually a lot more interesting than that. See: http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/faq-transitional.html
Next on the agenda, many creationists try to argue that live is complex, thus it must have a designer. Well, amino acids and DNA rely heavily upon Chemistry and Physics which allows and governs these complex arrangements of chemicals. This isn't random chance like many creationists would like you to believe.
There are a billion other arguments that come up, but in the end, if this country allows creationism / "intelligent design" to be taught in schools as real science, education might as well no longer exist. I have no issue with students learning about religion in an elective course. However, SCIENCE should be presented in a SCIENCE classroom. If you want to present religion, present it in a class based on religion or possibly (in my opinion) its better left for a creative writing class.
I choose to be an agnostic, leaning towards atheism. It is my personal belief that the Judeo-Christian "god" is false, and I'm not sufficiently satisfied that Jesus Christ ever existed as there is no mention of Christ outside of the bible, with the exception of Pliny the Younger claiming to believe in Cristus, however, this is heresay and Pliny the Younger was born about 30 years after Christ would have died. P-t-Y's father, Pliny the Elder, makes no mention of Jesus Christ and he was a widely respected historian.
I choose to seek truth. If I'm wrong and a creator exists, one of two things will occur:
1.) I will have a chance to explain myself, in which a descent, loving, and understanding creator will understand that I spend my life seeking truth instead of comfort.
OR
2.) God / the creator is raging mad man, like the god of the old testament. In this case, I'm infinitely more moral because I do not advocate rape, torture, genocide, etc. If I'm "cast into hell", thats fine with me because the god of the old testament is flawed (and likely false). Plus, 2/3rds of the world isn't muslim, christian, or jewish. Thus, according to the Bible, 2/3rds of the worlds population is dammed by default for failing to recognize Christ. Sorry about your luck. LOL!

Look to the world you live in. Once you were a sperm drop and from that you grew into an intelligent being. You experienced pleasure and pain, happiness and sadness and knowing and not knowing. How much of that was truly under your control? Did you have the knowledge that I would answer your post?
Forget about that "guy" (Abraham) for a moment; what about the "God" who's the creator of all things good and bad. The creator of Heaven and Hell. The "God" who fashioned this world and taught mankind what is a good deed and what is a bad deed. Who gave man a limited free will to choose to do good or bad then will reward or punish him on a "Day of Judgment" according to his belief and deeds in the time that he or she lived.
All will die, men woman and children by any means and all life and death is in the hands of this "God"
If you come to the knowledge and logical conclusion of God then the realization comes that "God" allows evil to exist according to his will. That is if "God's" "Day of Judgment" is to reward those who do good and punish those who do bad.
Well then what is this "God" looking for? Belief, Obedience and a sense of Justice?
Your a Lawyer, it's possible that you have a "hunch" or "belief" that something is fishy about a certain case. You then have to gather all the facts and view it from different angles before coming to a conclusion. All this is done in obedience to the law in the spirit and sense of Justice.
Abraham was a prophet of God the same as Noah, Moses, Jesus, Muhammad (to name a few) and taught the same thing in terms of belief as all of them did. A prophet and (messenger) of "God" is a human being who god chooses to teach humanity the way of life god wants them to live. So the sacrificing of Ismael (Abraham's son) was an inspiration from god as Abraham was a prophet of god, in the end Abraham did not kill his son but replaced his son with a lamb. Life,death,good and evil and how they interact with each other is all part of the wisdom of god.
If your children, wife or parents stole domain names, would you bring them to justice? do you have that sense of justice to the law?
