Is there some value in the improper form of the word "4" subtituted in the place of "For"? Seems to me that one would loose major traffic to the person that owned FOR***.CO.UK instead of 4****.CO.UK

Am I missing something here?

It’s actually quite a common suffix, at least in the UK.

Many sites listed in google, here's just a few of them...

broadband4britain.co.uk

eden4flowers.co.uk
search-4-shops.co.uk

While I don’t personally like 4whatever.co.uk domains someone else might, it’s a shame you felt you should remove the list. Nice gesture gone wrong I guess %+| .
