Have you noticed that the vast majority of domains in this thread have scores between 25-35? Co-incidence?

I know this isn't a discussion thread, but I believe this is very relevant to anyone reading this thread - Overture scores between 25-35 are not valid. That's just my theory, and it's a generalization - sometimes they probably are valid. But in a lot of cases (or perhaps the vast majority of cases), I believe a score around 30 is due to a script that is auto-searching once per day (= 30/month). Don't ask me who's running these scripts, could be a registrar or someone interested in the domain, or software that is checking ranking, or many other possible reasons.

I have noticed the same thing with keywords, not just with domains. I have spent a LOT of time researching keywords and keyphrases on overture and wordtracker, and there are a LOT of keyphrases that co-incidentally have scores between 25-35 even though the keyphrase is extremely rare and composed of words that do not belong together - almost definitely because someone has a script to check their ranking with those keywords.

Sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere - I haven't seen it. If someone feels this needs to be discussed further then feel free to start another thread, discussion probably doesn't belong here - I just wanted to let people know since buying domains based on invalid OVT scores will most likely result in zero-traffic domains. I know that might be obvious to most people, for example look at an example from the previous list - trueedgemonsters.com has a score of 26, even though the domain has virtually zero backlinks, no type-in traffic, and zero OVT score with 'trueedgemonsters' and 'true edge monsters'. Obviously the OVT with extension score is not valid. Of course most people would do research before buying...

It is no coincidence why those 25-35 OVT domains are still available after the drop. Cause nobody wants them. Plain and simple.

I've gathered some previous OVT names and developed them into mini-sites. It's worked out pretty good. Not a waste of time to find the diamond in the rough when you do your homework. Especially if you just enjoy what your doing.

Yes, I'm not suggesting that these domains are worthless or definitely not good - just that the OVT score is not valid.

Because from a completely logical viewpoint, if a domain has an OVT score with ext. of 30, then you would expect at least 1 visitor a day, but in reality you're likely to get 0 visitors a day, because the OVT score was false and NOBODY was really searching for the domain with extension, it was just some sort of bot or script. But the domain may get daily visitors for some other reason, eg. it may have backlinks or it may rank well for some keyword/phrase. And it may still be good for developing. But the OVT with ext. score is worthless.

I do believe this only applies to scores between 25-35. Personally, I think the thread should be changed to only show scores over 35, otherwise people are getting 'ripped off'. Of course it always comes down to 'buyer beware' and people should do research before buying, so you could argue that it's up to the buyer and nobody is trying to rip anybody off, but in fact if people highly suspect that the results are invalid then it's not really ethical to accept DNF$ from unwitting buyers who don't have that knowledge. That's just my personal opinion, I could be completely wrong :greenroll:
