It would be a good site to bring together backpackers from all over, although some people would be inclined to type in the singular, backpacker.

Great name. Develop it into a site for backpackers and you can make a fortune.

I think for .orgs the difference between reseller and enduser value is extremly high because its so hard to find buyers for .orgs. I would say reseller value is probably only high $xx but end user can be $xxxx

reseller: 20$
enduser: never a limit.

If backpackers spent alot of time on the net maybe it would be worth more.

Backpackers do spend alot of time on the net, they rely on the net to stay in touch with family, to get information on what to do and where to go.... and $20 .. you must be crazy.

Yes , this is a good domain. Development is the key as probably not enough of this type of thing on the net. Most backpackers are young & naturally have been brought up with the internet so is second nature & yes, do stay on the net to stay in touch.
Many will spend a lot of time planning, so your site could be key. Imagine sourcing your site for info & using affiliate links for flights!etc
You could have a forum on this site so that youngsters can stay in touch with parents & friends. A very common thing backpackers do is stop at internet cafes & post pictures to friends & family. .ORG is not always great, but works for this & gives an air of credibility to the site, especially to concerned parents who will no doubt be bankrolling the venture.
You really must develop this. We are all as bad as each other having too many domains & needing to concentrate on developing! :yo:
Affiliate links for money transfers, flights etc.
undeveloped enduser $xxx low to mid
developed ......great possibilities. could be full time venture
Good one! Good Luck, Predator

This is a nice .org...although the true value is in developing it...

I believe your backpackers.info has more value though

Undeveloped I would appraise the .org at low xxx (maybe mid xxx).

I don't think you over paid. I have acctually been shocked to se the low appraisals in this thread.

It has a great potentiall to become a backbackers community.

Most of the same comments and appraisals that you got for backpackers.info apply for backpackers.org.

Here in the US we don't use the term backpackers - we call them "hikers" or "kids". The $20 appraisal (and other low values) are probably from here in the States where backpackers are schoolchildren with packs full of schoolbooks. Please try to remember that many of these domains are regional and by the very nature so are the appraisals. I would wager that appraisals from those in the states for any domain with UTES in it would be very low, as UTES in the US is the nickname for the UTAH STATE football team - not SUVs (sport utility vehicles).

Good domains.

I think it's a great domain too - 1000 euros seems reasonable to me for someone who has a use for it, as you do (due to your backpackers.info site).

I was just writing in the TourismChina.net thread about how there may be a language usage difference between Canada and the US for tourism vs. travel.

I think there's a similarity in this case as well, as some others have already mentioned.

I think the term backpacking/backpackers is used fairly often in Canada and I guess the UK (and I see you're from Australia, so there as well; and maybe even Europe in general). But from reading this thread, I see it must not be used much in the US.

1000 euros was a good price. 'Backpackers' is the right, most often used and recognized term globally for backpack travellers etc. For example; Lonely Planet has an extremely popular and dedicated book series (guides) about this subject.
The name is screaming to be developped, and due to its international nature (and the .org extension is definitely a plus), I would guess low-mid $xxxx now and $10-15k for the right end-user.

good luck
