What does everyone think bank.us.com is worth on today's market? I think it's a great name for just about any lending institution. If I can't get enough for it right now I was thinking of developing it to generate some traffic/revenue.

~ some stats from overture.com

  • 2,763,779 bank of america
  • 1,065,915 banks
  • 588,429 online bank
  • 457,756 us bank

Thanks!

I like the name it's self, but being a us.com makes it limited in my veiw. The best thing to do, is develop the site and see what kind of offers you get.

Selling it at this point, will surly short the price I think. It sound great, it could make a great us bank rates listing site to start with.

Thanks for the input fellas... I do appreciate it!

I'm not exactly sure what to double extension domains are really worth compared to the singles, although I know many of the .co.uk one's have sold for good amounts. My thinking is that the us.com ones will eventually be in higher demand, plus I just like the fact that you can get an awesome name if you go that route.

has there been a documented sale of the .xx.com domains yet? to my knowledge (and Ive been away for a while), there hasn't been. Hopefully I am wrong so you can make back your reg fee on this. If you can, try to sell it for whatever.

When I first got into domains I got one of those xx.com domains from umm..dotster I think it was...

I think, because of the negativity of these "scam" type subdomains dotster stopped selling them **If it wasn't dotster, it was another large domain reg firm**

What makes you think it's a "scam"? :kev:

well mainly because they can't be considered anything but a sub-domain.

it isn't like co.uk *where uk is run by the Brits and the co.uk is actually what you register* because xxx.us.com is a subdomain of a us.com that is owned by a corporation.

OIC - I figured they were run by a corp, however, it seems like people are snapping them up now... and I really like the one's I aquired. I don't really see what the big deal would be anyway, it's not like a government runs any better than a corporation.

Well thats the scam part, people considering it (imho) like they would a co.uk where its the official extention of the UK, but for..the us lets say.

I do hope you sell it, honest, but.. actually if you do a search on NP's for this subject, theres a pretty long thread about it to my recollection.

BTW - the company who runs us.com also owns every other country xx.com. So it seems like it's become accepted as a popular alternative.

how would this work if the owner of us.com wanted to set up a subdomain of bank? His url would then be the same.... bank.us.com

the owner, centralnic (a corporation) cannot do that now. but for all intents and reasons, it would be identical to http://bank.djfngdjhn.us.com as far as its "location" on the web.

it really is a shame what they are doing (centralnic), and that they charge such outlandish fee's is even moreso disgusting.

I'm pretty sure most, if not all.. if the old timer domainers here will back this up.

Or you'd be screwed because he already owns us.com.

I was talking technically... how is it possible to sell a domain that is the same as another existing domains possible sub domain? That's like trying to sell off a piece of someone elses backyard, no? And how would it be possible for both of these to be set up simultaneously? Am I missing something?
