Hi,

I would like to get a few different opinions on what you think BathingSuit.net is valued in regards to reseller pricing and also as an end-user price.

Please consider some analytical benefits of SEO, Backlinks, Alexa, etc... that the domain is current benefiting from.

The term has about 12K exacts, the plural would be better with 60K exacts. This is obviously a solid .net product name, but it is kind of like pocket jacks in poker - it can get you in trouble.
This one has been kicked around the reseller market for a while now, and it looks like once in a while someone passes it on for low to mid X,XXX At some larger auctions, it couldn't get a 5K opening bid from those "in the know". True reseller price on this forum would probably be 1-2K

If I owned it, I'd surely be trying to get low 5 figures for it from an end user and maybe if you really pitched this at some industry leaders, they might bite. But, you have to ask yourself why this is still languishing in the reseller market?

As far as analytics and backlinks, etc. there just isn't anything of great value going for this name in those areas as far as I can tell. If you have some revenue numbers that would support a higher valuation, that would be worth including. Good luck with it - It would be great if you could move this one to a company that could actually make good use of it.

I have to agree with all points mentioned.

The seller is asking in the low XX,XXX.

I have no intentions of reselling the domain but rather have this developed into a full eCommerce site.

The price seems too high, I would be comfortable with Low to Mid X,XXX but low XX,XXX is too much risk in investment for my ROI.

Few questions for you though:

I see 91K exact searches in Estibot, not 12K. How did you get those numbers?

Do you have any idea on that the last buyer bought it for? I want to compare this to what I was told.

1. You need to go to the actual Google adwords tool:

Estibot data is taken from a database snapshot. Exact numbers do change from month to month and season to season FYI

2. Names that look good "on paper" nice searches, generic, etc. can sometimes cause us to overplay (overpay) to get them. How much development and advertising could you put into a brandable KEYWORDswimwear.com for the added expense of getting the .net? How much SEO value is in the .net, can you even hope to compete in this niche?, etc? As a reseller, are you going to tie up funds and be left with a name that is tough to sell?

3. I don't have any inside knowledge on exact previous sales prices, but it failed to get a minimum bid at a previous auction, and I read somewhere that there was a 3,500 offer once made for it. No way to determine exactly what this one has changed hands for or if any of that info is legit.

If it were me and I really wanted to be in this niche, i'd keep looking for a really fun and brandable domain or a ADJECTIVEbathingsuits.com (cool,hot,etc.) type domain that was cheaper. I'd also go with the plural, not the singular. I like product domains, but I would also think twice about swim wear. Do some market research - how many people buy bathing suits online? What kind of return rate is there? I stay away from apparel, but that's just me.

All makes sense, thanks for all the information.

I'll do my research, but your right, it would be tough to get my ROI both from a developer and reseller point of view.
This niche is just over saturated and on top of the domain purchase I wold need to sink in quite a bit of cash to get it where I want to ... if that's even possible.

You might want to try a company like Epik ( I don't work for them)...where you let them develop the name & then split the revenue with you 50/50. 50% of something is better than 100% of nothing.
