The .BERLIN zone was down (-3105) today. Wonder if there's a takeback underway?

And you wonder why domaining has got a bad rep. Let's be honest, if domainers grab all the freebies, the Berliners are left with the crumbs and resentment.
Whether they will miss those domains is another matter though (the drop is just a year ahead anyway). Domains that are free to register are usually FTR for a reason.

Achtung. Dead zone ahead.
Watch out for .BERLIN's secret weapon: Section 5.2. :) It is a very powerful and non-committal clause in the registrant agreement.

Interstingly, 3900 of the the deletions were short number domains and on one hoster.

I was actually looking at the bylaws of .berlin yesterday and was wondering about that.

1anddone will be on the hook for this. They will sidestep the issue that they are the Germany proxy presence.

Don't know if they will be able to sidestep the issue as it is not a nexus one. The last thing that the .BERLIN registry would want is a rerun of the .EU muppetry. S5.2 seems to have been drafted with this in mind. It could be used to shutdown PPC parked sites since it is non-specific.
