Hi everyone,

I've been a dnForum member for a while now, but this is my very first post here!

I was wondering which pricing method works best for you -
Make Offer, Low Min Price with no cap, Min Price with automatic auction, or Fixed Price? Or any other I didn't mention?

Thanks!

Joni

Hi Stuff,
Thank you for your input! Which method do you use for names over $50?

Hi Bean,
I agree with you - I prefer Fixed Prices also! But is that how you sell them?
(By the way, I really like your signature line!)

I think many people donn't want to waste time on make offer again, again, again for a name so I like sell name at a fair fixed price.
If people like my name then they will buy ASAP.

Thank for you praise of my signature. :)

The answer really depends on what you mean.

"which pricing method works best for you?'

Do you mean to resellers or to the public?

Hi Bean,
I agree with you completely about going back and forth so many times to finally (hopefully!) arrive at a price! What I like about Fixed Pricing is that I know in advance how much it costs, and can decide whether or not I'm willing to pay that! Just wasn't sure if buyers expect (or prefer) to have to negotiate.

Hi DCG,
I'm sorry - I didn't mean to be vague! I wanted to know what buyers in general prefer, so I guess that means both resellers and the public! You would use different methods depending on which?

What brought up my question was this:
I've seen sellers here list names for sale at very low fixed prices, but not get any bites. Then I've read where a similar (or sometimes even the same) name goes for much more money on Pool. Got me wondering...

Hi DomainQuay,
You know every people have their own thinking,so a name maybe is perfect for you but for other people is 0$.
And sometimes if the name is not recognized good, you must have some luck yo find the buyer.
what is the good luck?
At right time,at right price,at right place ,met a right buyer.

This is the letter that we use....

Hello,

We have reviewed your inquiry about the domain name, xxxxxx.com, and although we are primarily Internet traffic resellers and web site developers, we would consider selling this domain name.

Please, be aware that our selling price has NO relationship to normal registration charges of $17.95 per year at www.DomainDuck.us, for example.

With that noted, domain name reselling hinges largely upon N e g o t i a t i o N.

Our target price is $xxx.00 USD.

We offer quick paperless transfers and secure off-site credit card processing.

1 - You can accept our offer and have xxxxxx.com within 48 hrs after payment is confirmed.
2 - You can provide a reasonable counteroffer.
3 - You can decline or ignore our offer and we will close this file after FIVE (5) days.

Whatever you choose to do, good luck and best wishes.

Regards, quack d:)

Hi DomainDuck,

Thank you very much for sharing the letter you send to respond to inquiries!

I guess that your vote for Best Pricing Methods would be for Negotiation! If it's ok to ask, do you have any suggestions on negotiating successfully?

Joni

P.S. Good for you for using the .US extension for your site!!! :)

Joni,

These are 5 basic rules that I found sometime ago.

Remember, everything on this forum is spidered by search engines.

Great article, DomainDuck! Thanks so much for posting the link!

I'm not sure what you mean by "Remember, everything on this forum is spidered by search engines." ??

I am new here also, and would like to take a guess at what domainduck is refering to when he says
"Remember, everything on this forum is spidered by search engines."

By posting

Please, be aware that our selling price has NO relationship to normal registration charges of $17.95 per year at www.DomainDuck.us, for example.

Then the spiders will find the domian and help the search rank for it

Thats my guess, am I right?

Hi Rob,

I have only a tenuous understanding of spiders, so I don't know if you're right, but thanks for trying to help!

And welcome to dnForum!

My point was not about search engine ranking. It was about being cautious with your words, because they may come back to you later.

It's best to set a fixed price for a reasonable amount. People want to know how much they will need to fork over (or at least a price ceiling).

Thanks so much for your reply, GeneralBill!

I think that may be the crux of this whole pricing issue for newbies -
the "reasonable amount" part! Trying to determine what exactly is a reasonable amount can be a pretty daunting task for those of us that are less experienced domainers!
