I have received 7 offers in the six figure range for BF.COM in the short time I have been accepting offers, but as of right now none in the range I am seeking. I am curious to hear appraisals and feedback from the community.

Thanks for you're time!

6 figure and 7 figure domains have much lower liquidity than 4 and 5 figure ones. Do not necessarily assume that the offers you have received in the last week are as high as resellers are willing to pay right now. With neither a significant change in the market nor the discovery of an end user, you may find the offers increasing as cash opens up for resellers over the short term.

Predicting the price of good/great 2 letter .com's is like having a pre-sale estimate on a blue period Picasso oil - all estimates will be high, but the unknown ferocious buyer might trump them all and astound the market.

Good luck :)

2 letter .com
sexy letters
if you want to sell on a forum 150 - 200k

this needs to go to auction as i'm sure you know.
i dont see why it cant get 400 - 500k there if the right people are there.
who knows, maybe more?

AZ.com & LI.com both individually sold for $500k each this year.

This is a domain i would 'eat pillow for' :-#:

Is there a specific auction you would recommend?

Traffic or DRT

There's the Snapnames Live auction coming up too. I'm not sure of their conditions, but they should be worth considering too, since Snapnames does have a huge network of rich buyers. Nothing wrong in entering with a high reserve.

I'll agree that 2 letter names are a hard sell in the forums, simply because not everybody has 6 figures lying around in liquid cash. Thats why I'm sure you must've received many offers for trades.

Yes you're right, I did receive several offers for domain trades. Thanks for the info on the auctions, I just took a look at Dnjournal and AZ.com was a DRT auction, li.com took place on Sedo.

although I dont think its as great as AZ.com its still an awesome domain.
At prices for which 10% sales commission at the usual places can add up to big numbers the best might just be a well promoted auction right here to which you point all the people that previously emailed you. If you decide to have an auction you can pretty much forget end user prices though and hold a non reserve auction with a realistic starting price, that usually works best, I would guess that auction would bring in about 250-300 if you have a starting price of 100k

thats pretty spot on actually. good advice.
actually i think Moniker charge 20% thinking about it, not sure though :uhoh:

as far as snap, they have scored another own goal imo
if you look at their terms and conditions you gotta transfer names to regsistrars of their choice :uhoh:

now considering most names you buy off them are with the smallest resellers on earth, lol, not sure what theyre thinking. i know a lot of people are not touching for this reason and a few others. i emailed them about it and they said they will respond etc. have they f*ck

anyway good luck with name whatever you do

one thing you can do is to put it up for sale at Sedo. Wait for an offer - any offer, and then send it to auction. Even if you send it to auction with a $100 offer, you will eventually get bidded up to more than 250k, perhaps 500k like Li.com. Such names are very rarely up for sale, and every big investor wants a piece of them.

I think Li did so well because of the chinese connection ( Li means "Street" ), also a common name....

Did you do a search of companies that could use BF ? Maybe a direct pitch would be better, to save on commission fees...

I wouldn't do that. If you set the reserve too low you are taking a chance.
No guarantee the buyers with deep pockets will be there when you need them ;)
IMO I would send the domain to Traffic as suggested above for the exposure.

I would gear for 200K and up.

I would send it to Domainfest auction January 2008. Domainsponsor + Snapnames - two smartest players in the market, I think this auction will be huge. For sure all big as well middle players will be there, bidding on their familar and beloved platform - Snapnames.

Good point perhaps a premium auction would be the Sedo route, the marketplace auction I researched could end up not getting the right exposure for this name like you mentioned and then I would be forced to sell there. I have over 5 offers on Sedo right now and several are for 100$........
