I own 2 .tel domains... one a PREMIUM LLL.tel and the other a one word .tel that if it was a .com would be worth any easy six figures. At this point I have tried to sell them cheap.($XX).. real cheap and no one wants them...
Personally I believe .tel could have been revolutionary had it come out 10 years ago when it wanted too... now, not so much.
Your title attracted me, I thought you where posting some HUGE .tel sale which wouldn't surprise me seeing some of the junk that sells.... however the potential for this domain is very very limited...
To answer your question about development, no I really don't see alot of room for development as a whole let alone in individual names... once again 10 years ago when cell phones couldnt handle graphics and large data transfer .tel would have been great but now days I can lookup any full site on my iphone with little wait..
According to dnsaleprice here are the reported sales >= $1000
Seitensprung tel $2,115
Pickups tel $1,000
Alaska tel $1,050
SeitenSprung tel $1,500
Storage tel $3,950
Visit tel $1,000
Ohio tel $1,000
Tarragona tel $1,161
Lesbian tel $1,000
Hire tel $3,000
well, to each his own. I have sold two .tel for low $x,xxx, which were the first .tel sales to be reported in dnjournal, and another lll.tel for high $xxx (it was a 3-letter first name, to be fair).
I have had a low $x,xxx offer on another of my .tel, but declined.
I agree that the market is very limited, and lets face it, .tel is the red-headed step-child of domainers, but still, there are sales to be had. I've more than covered my initial investment, so now even if the ceiling falls through i have still made some money. I believe I can still make more though, on my present inventory. Lets hold out and see what comes of it.
