I recently shared my biggest sale here on DNForum: OnlineBilling.com, which closed for $75k USD in July 2023. My second-largest sale was a three-word .COM for $42k USD in April 2024—still on a 36-month payment plan, so I’m holding off on naming it until the final payment clears.
This year hasn’t yet seen a mid-to-high five-figure sale, though I did have a one-word .COM in escrow for $250k with a billion-dollar buyer. They missed the one-month payment window, so we had to cancel; I’m now relisting it in the $500k–$1M range.
With the high-quality inventory I’m holding, I expect a six-figure deal soon—but domaining is a waiting game, and impatience can lead to lowball sales. To stay busy (and avoid selling under value), I’ve launched two niche job boards that each earn a few hundred dollars a month:
I was inspired to build active income when I saw Peter Askew making $5k–$10k/mo on his job board RanchWork.com, and I’ve also just acquired Boilerplates.com to create a boilerplate directory monetized via affiliate links and ads.
Outside of domaining, I maintain a full-time job and prioritize fitness and healthy living. All these activities keeps me busy, overcome boredom, and help me avoid chasing low offers while I wait for that next big sale.
How about you? Does anyone else here build side projects or use other strategies to stay productive (and patient) between domain sales? I’d love to hear your approaches!
