Hard to price. I know of one example of a .edu big university (It's my alma mater actually) that ended up purchasing the .com version of their name. But they are mostly almost referred to by their abbreviation and that's what they use for their main .edu site- so situation a little different here. I'm not sure where TM issues may play with this one. But Good luck!

Yes, I agree - not an easy one to price.

However CityUniversity.com / CityCollege.com domain names seem to sell monthly...


Marchex even own UniversityOfCambridge dot com - which is the actual official name of the university in that city.

Monetization would be tricky for this one. It's got the searches to be an awesome resource but the moment you try to monetize it the University will likely step in. Similar thing happened to me. The University of Minnesota essentially threatened me hah. I would recommend NOT developing it so you don't waste anytime or money on something that could start some type of legal action. I agree with the other posts. Not an IP lawyer... but I know that any large entity (commerical as well as educational and non-profit) can be intent on protecting what they consider their intellectial property or brand.

I parked it for a few days to see if the name would get any traffic.
Yesterday, there were about 25 visitors, and it made $36 in revenue (15 clicks). I guess this is due to the link being highly targeted to what the visitors are looking for.
Still not sure what to do with this domain

They are all Direct type-ins... possibly by future students, simply typing in the domain into the address bar.

True. It seems a bit odd though. I'd just keep it parked since it's earning well and hope that no one contacts you.

If you are thinking of a site, make a site of the home of Cambridge University, Cambridge.

Since the UK does not use .edu (.ac.uk) there is no issue there. Also, it appears it is more proper to refer to this majestic place as the University of Cambridge.

I think a site focusing on the features of the village of Cambridge followed by a virtual tour of the University. If your focus is different, I think there will be no issues. But, I am not an attorney and I do not guarantee success.
