Register.cm must love the free traffic from Register.com ;)

How much is annual fee? Anyone see a specific document or quote from the registry site?

Around mid $xxx. Also register.cm does not seem to receive any notable traffic plus if there were it wont convert with the enormous domain fee :asleep:

the domains will cost less than $100 in open registration (August 2009)

How about .OM or .CO? :)

the registry operation for .om was awared last year.
.Co is currently tendering the registry.

I like to know how many people (rough percentage) mistype "cm" instead of "com".

I would say a decent number. Look at agoga.com on alexa. And lots of the domains like google.cm are not even included.

Also Yahoo.cm, Yahoomail.cm is now owned by Yahoo.

it makes sense to protect prime tm's with this one. i tried a few of our tm's.cm and .cm did not land them/monetize them.

I could not understand why Rick Latona is selling .cm domains if Landrush hasn't started yet.

How does it happen?

the domains which are in the auction have been registered a v long time ago, even before Kevin Ham started the wildcard.

The General Manager of Netcom.cm is a speaker at TRAFFIC Amsterdam.

Wow...a whole new internet world! :)

from what I understand .om and .co might have "local presence" requirement, .cm won't.

Just received this email.

and why is there a sunrise and landrush period based on this information?

Dear Gerry,

the toplvel .cm zone has less than 1000 domains. Most of the names were
registered 4 years ago. Most of them are trademarks.

Domains like hotels.cm, flowers.cm, job.cm, house.cm, travel.cm are
still available.

Best regards,

Netcom.cm

to ensure that the TM holders can get there domains. Before the registration of .cm was restricted, as otherwise most of the domains would not be available anymore.

.me had more names "reserved" and they did a sunrise

I am well aware of what these times are for.

But those names for sale on the auction were regged four years ago?

What restrictions were in place?

So the Sunrise and Landrush will be for the non-handpicked domains that some one has already stashed away?

Thanks for the reassuring confidence boost explaining to me what a sunrise is supposed to be.

Cameroon is releasing the .cm top level domains with sunrise period in June and landrush in July:
And of course a sunrise period of one month to ensure the legality and legitimacy of TM's is enough time for this effort.

First the registry was handled by Camtel, during this time Camtel also wildcared once in a while the entire .cm zone, long before Kevin Ham did it.

The ANTIC took over and now ANTIC works with Netcom.cm

Restrictions: Local Presence & Trademark and later reduced to local presence or Trademark

The names in the auction are regged along time ago. Around 5 years ago Hotels.cm, cheaptickets.cm, dictionary.cm were registered. Last year or so they went into the wildcard.

I think there are still some decent domains to register, but might be a matter of taste. Sex.cm for example would be a nice one.

I have a feeling that we'll be seeing .cm in the appraisal section regardless of the high registration price though in the near future.

Well, at least 'reg fee' will be something good for a change unless you actually paid it, of course(haha)!

Biggest bullshit ever. As others already mentioned, the entire namespace is leased to Mr. Ham. The humbug about landrush etc. only means that the rif-raf of these names (which have been tested for several years now for steady traffic) will be available to the suckers that'd be willing to pay astronomical prices per domain. Bullshit like this makes me wanna support ICANN's fully open TLD!

As you seem to know everything, you might want to let us know what happened to the wildcard of .CM ?

The Cameroonian gov't is as good to the domain registrant as it is honest to the Cameroonian citizen... and Transparency International ranks Cameroon as one of the most corrupt countries in the world, based on the perceptions of Cameroonians themselves.

Registration prices also have been reduced, compared to current prices of around $500 per year http://www.101domain.com/cm.htm)

always amazed about Africa, all brothers and sisters, but then it comes down to nationalism, every one in Africa claims they are the best country...

No buy for me, too many .com's to be bought with better return in the short and long.

majority of .cm traffic converts extremely bad, as in worse than myspace typos lol
