Automated appraisal tools are crap. Even for established extensions.
Appraise new extensions against what, when there is no established market ?

Its tough with new gTLD's. Not much of a market to base them off of.

I believe in order to make some serious ROI you would have had to been on board with the first few that registered the only "good" gTLD's.

The wiser move, unless you have landed on a gTLD like Real.Estate or something is to invest in what sells more often...the mighty king of extensions: .Com

Just my own two cents.

Algorithm :

1. Assuming you have dn.ext , get an automated appraisal for dnext.com
2. Divide the appraised value for dnext.com by a "scaling factor" to get an estimation for dn.ext

To determine the scaling factor :
1. Find a few gtld's that have sold (to end users) and write down the prices
2. Compare the selling prices with the automated appraisals of the respective .COM

Of course do not expect any kind of accuracy, and possibly there will be some totally wrong appraisals.
I just guess it's better than nothing.

Also check if the .COM is in use, or parked etc.
