I like the concept of chatrooms to organize topics, but, I also like the idea of a shoutbox as it gives a better real-time conversing experience.

One add-on I'm looking to implement across my forums is this:

I believe being a widget will set more focus on it and it may be utilized more often over a chat room that's harder to access (plus, for some reason, permissions are denied to even join on my end).

For $10, it might be worth considering for a trial run to see if there's more engagement.

We use several addons from Siropu, including the current chat. He does great work and is very responsive.
