Basic Summary:

What should you consider when choosing an affiliate program? You need to think about two key things: what business are you in and what can the affiliate program provide to your customers.

+ Is the affiliate program a reputable business?
+ Does the program enable you to share in the lifetime value of the customer?
+ Does the program reward you for introducing other affiliates?
+ Is the supplier interested in your success as an affiliate?
+ Is the commission reasonable?
+ Are statistics provided?
+ Are new products being developed regularly?
+ How frequently are commissions paid?
+ Have you read the affiliate agreement?

While there are other factors that can be considered when choosing an affiliate program, following the suggestions above will help you to make superior business choices that will lead to long-term success.

I agree with most off the tips above, but i would add to pick an affiliate based on their products not one that just pays a high commission ...after all, in order to make a commission, you've gotta market to buyers.

Good points.

Also after you decide on the right market, products and programs you may need to test a couple of different merchants. Some convert better than others and some have better tracking. Test and measure ad types and ad placement too to optimize your earnings.
