My last 5 domain registrations have been cloud domains. I ran into a bunch of descriptive cloud names that sound decent. Anyone can think of them.

Who cares? Post something meaningful and not try to hijack someone else's post with your thread(s).

Well not that anyone should care dear sir. Just want to inform that there are still a few unregged cloud domains. How's this; CloudDistro.com is unregistered as of 1:59PM ET (New York). Distro within the Linux community simply means distribution package. Cloud Distro would be fitting for a Linux-based cloud hosting/storage system. Without the affiliation to linux, not a bad cloud domain either.

I started this thread because I was curious and wanted everyone to share insights. So when you talk of hijacking posts and whatnot, what's your contribution?

Well I've sold several xx,xxx cloud names. OpenClouds.com is still in the portfolio and CloudP.com with several more including OpenNetwork.com which I think quite suitable.

But seriously you have my apologies. I did not see that you started this post.

And @DOC... LOL

Congrats man. I can only dream of sales like that. Are you at liberty to talk about the cloud names you sold?

I sold iCloud.mobi last year, hey ho.

Did you get much for it, probably just as well as Apple own "iCloud" now

Hey Stu

What a shame the words werent the other way around.

I know, its not too bad though, the Cloud word doesnt have to be at the start -

openclouds.com $399
PushingTheCloud.com $60
SiliconCloud.com $950
winCloud.com $1200
AtCloud.com $399
ironcloud.com $1020
BuzzClouds.com $80
PictureCloud.com $960

Some people prefer the cloud at the end, It looks a 50/50 split.

Cheers

P.S. Sorry, I missed off another one - iCloud.com - $4.5m

I totally understand what you are saying, but some words go better in the front and others at the back

Words like World, Planet, Zone, Force, Experts, Sport, Place, Center, Computing etc all sound better at the end

If they are descriptive words like Cool, Open, Cheap, Mega, Iron, Maxi, Public, Private etc then they are better in front

Thats why sales like these are a a bit higher than the ones you mentioned.

cloudbite.com - $3000
clouddb.com - $3000
cloudgeek.com - $2200
cloudexchange.com - $3900
cloudtechnologies.com - $1500
cloudgames.com - $3000
cloudblue.com - $1700
cloudcontainer.com - $10,000
cloudsaas.com - $2300
cloudgames.net - $2500 (nice for a .net)
cloud-computing.de - $38,280

iCloud is a major exception to the rule as its very brandable and Apple happen to like "i" in front of everything

You should do fine with the name though, at least you didnt pay a lot which is the main thing, I love the word "Zone" by the way

I like NameJr.com by the way

I regged cloudbur.com a few days ago. BUR stands for backup and recovery. At least that's what wikipedia says.

The reason why these names sold higher is because of the words added on - Bite, Exchange, Technologies , Games , Computing etc etc The list I produced has Open, Pushingthe, Win, At, Iron -- different league.

Cheers.

P.S. Thanks for the mention on my NameJr.com , much appreciated.

Stu

Thats my point, there aren't many decent sales with Cloud at the end, and the sales that do exist aren't huge sales because the keywords are not the best

Actually, "Open" is one of the strongest around for this term, check google and see what the words together mean, I would have paid more than that (opencloud.com)
Win is short for Windows so that will do well

I personally dont think the words are great, I would have bought any at half those prices personally (except computing and games obviously)

Technologies - too long, more for just an informational site
Bite - Byte is a better word
Exchange - doesn't suit the tech imo
Geek - well well lol
Blue - catchy I guess, BlueCloud sounds better

The main things about these names is for them to make sense, seriously, I had some cloud names a while back that were hand-regged or dropped and you cant sell most of them for $50, even to domainers on the forums.

Like 3D, Holo, Solar and any other niche, you are better off buying from existing owners, you have to be extremely lucky to find a decent hand-reg days, even the names that are dropping, you have to ask yourself "why are people letting them drop"

Have you heard anything about the FTA Stu??
