I don't find it that surprising.

Most generic terms don't get much traffic even in .COM, at least not enough to support an extension typo. Even if .CO typo happens 1 in 1000 times it does not result in much traffic for generics.

The only way I think you will see traffic are typo domains of major TM sites that get millions of hits per day.

I don't think this cctld has a chance beyond domainers.

I totally agree. Here are some posts from various other domain forums/blogs that are very troubling to the credibility of this extension. The only real value IMO is TM typo based, and the Colombian ccTLD use.

I feel like we are seeing a pump and dump operation already by some people.

I just bought comcast.co, does any one think that has any value?

so I can’t sell it to them?

Hi, I need a help

I registered around 10 domains .co of the largest companies in the world yesterday. (example company.co)

The best thing is to contact directly to these companies to offer or the other option is to put them on auction sites like sedo.com and then notify these companies that there are auctioned?

I bought a bunch of first and last names. I think that would sell, especially if that person has a small business. True they might not shell out thousands of dollars, but if I sell it for ten times the purchase price, which would be within reach, then I'm happy.

Example:
carole.co

i have contacts in china who can manufacture keyboards where the "m" key can be slightly non-functional or only work on occassions... say 1/10 ;)

if you want in on the venture... contact focus, he is heading our team

lol :) jk

anyways.... on a more serious note, its all speculation so far with not much to ever materialize just like with all the other extensions which have slowly gone away, and that is what domaining is... a small group of domainers, maybe few hundred - few thousand at most are responsible for 90%+ of all registrations yesterday probly, if not more....... same with most other extensions, including com, cctlds, etc.

same ol... same ol'

For some reason new extensions bring out the newbs. The same thing happens every time. Every new extension is the greatest thing ever.

This article explains the process.

Considering there are only 200K .CO regs I can't believe some of the turds I have seen.

That sounds like a good idea. Maybe we can also have a batch with the C off for when Oman allows open regs on their typo friendly .OM

The big winners on this cctLD will be the domain lawyers, they will be plenty busy with tm typos. ;)

If anyone has good stats let us know, it will help us decide if we should bid in some of the .com auctions going on now.

Yep. I posted this yesterday on FB.

.CO Winners & Losers

Winners -

1.) The .CO Registry
2.) Registrars
3.) People who got assigned top tier generics without competition.
4.) Lawyers. From the obvious TM related typo squatting that will follow.

Losers -

1.) Everyone else.

depends.

1) companies who own the TM had their chance to register the domain
2) if they tried to and they didn't qualify, why would they get the domain in court?
3) I would stay away from most of the big names (google, apple, etc.)
4) if there are other misspellings which are parked, you should be fine (for now at least)

CanonCity.CO - a small town in Colorado where I grew up that I'll develop as a bit of a community site (generic page up now)
WhatAFias.co - Just for fun...

Denver.co - I have an option to compete in the auction for this domain...thoughts?

I tried to get colorado.co and a few cities in CO, but had no luck. I think denver.co could be a good domain name, but it depends on the price as well!
