Hi,

I can offer a drop catching service for .co.uk for only £24.99

This includes the cost of registration for 2 years.

This is the only cost, no VAT payable, and is fully refundable if not successful

If interested please email me via board email system or check out the new website at http://www.domaincatch.co.uk (available soon)

Thanks

That is a good price, about 4 quid cheaper than detagged.co.uk's service. Could you let us know some of the best names that you've grabbed so far?

Just in case the username of the starter of this thread (rmartin) causes some confusion I just wanted to say this is nothing to do with me, Martin Reeves (mreeves) previously of NameTrack.

Best Regards
Martin

We have grabbed names, however they are for clients.. They have all stated they do not wish to have the domains mentioned at this point.

Once the website opens then I will reassess this, as ovbiously it always helps to list on there what we have been able to get, to obviously quash the doubters amongst you

Thanks

thanks for your reply, are you Nominet members? The tag on your own domain name is Webfusion's. Are you part of Webfusion or do you use their domain grabbing service?

I use 123-reg.co.uk for my own personal domain registration.
No we do not use webfusions domain grabbing service and have no affiliation with them.

The domains are added to our script located on our own dedicated server and we directly interogate nominets automaton many times during the day in a similar fashion to other domain catching services.

We have a direct arrangement with a nominet member who we process the domains through hence we are not directly a nominet member, and with direct arrangement i do mean that we are not simply reselling someone elses domain catching service

Hope this clears the matter up for you

Thanks

thanks for that, nice site. Can I clarify that you will only accept one booking per domain name? If this is the case, how does your paypal system check whether or not a domain has already been booked by someone else?

Hi,

it doesn't, however we will notfiy you if the domain is already being searched and issue a full refund or offer you the chance to change your domain name to search, however you could always contact us first and/or pay by cheque if UK based

Thanks

thanks for your reply. btw do you offer bulk order discounts? I note that your price is cheaper than the service at detagged.co.uk but their price for bulk orders goes down to under £15 per domain.

Bulk order discounts are offered, usually on an individual basis

However as a guide if 20+ domains were prepaid then the price would be £19.99 per domain

Please remember these prices are the final price, unlike detagged.co.uk which adds VAT of 17.5% to their prices

Thanks

thanks for that. I do appreciate that if every single one of your existing clients have asked for confidentiality then you have to respect that. You doubtless did some testing of your system before offering it to the general public. Can you tell us just one or two names that your service succeeded in grabbing?

We are a pretty cynical bunch here on DNF and it is a fact of life that grabbing services are judged pretty much by the quality of the names that they get. If you can't quote a single domain name that your service has grabbed then I do think that you will have an extremely tough time selling your service as a serious rival to the established ones.

Ok as a concession to the cynics ;)

However firstly I must say it is very difficult to prove either way if a domain was caught or not once the domain is moved to another TAG etc.

Here is a couple however

hostname.co.uk
realnames.co.uk

perhaps these have appeared on some other dn forum members list who can verify their previous suspended status dec02-jan03

Thanks

Knowing when Detagged goes into suspended is a tricky one.

There are a couple of checking to see if it likely to go suspended

1. Do a whois on the domain you want and see when it was registered.

If this date is mid 1997 onwards then it is a nominet name and under their control

2. What other dates does the whois give?

Basically assume upto 1-2 years from these dates before Suspended stage is entered

I know this is only rough, but its the only way to guet some kind of figure

Thanks

Can you tell when can I expect to get that name ?

And do you use 123reg for your client's name ?

If that domain is detagged already then, I would not expect it to go suspended at least until July 03, however it could take upto July 04.

We don't use 123-reg for any part of our service, however you would be be able to transfer any caught domain with us from our registrar to 123-reg if you wish

Thanks
