Coffee.org - SOLD $100,000

I never like it when people say a domain is "sold" before it ever really is.. cough * cough * Pizza.com/Pizza.net ..... but Coffee.org IS currently in Sedo Escrow according to whois, so it does look as this one will be "sold".

With that said, I personally love the .org "feel good" extension. They rank very well in SE's and many times outrank .com's. The internet is full of trust issues and many people "trust" the .org extension, which can give your site instant trust and that is priceless! I think people are just noticing how underrated .org domains are!

i agree. also good coffee lovers are often like wine buffs etc, usually intelligent people and they will prob. associate with .org, if you'll excuse punn
it may even be bought via a 'backed' organisation as the 'coffee organisation'
the selling of coffee is obviously a billion dollar affair and very disjointed and varied. much growth in the fairtrade area too.
sometimes these type of orgs are backed by big dollars not just lentil eaters and do-gooders
maybe some sort of umbrella group is being set up here?
after all that though, bet it stays parked for months lol

I think you'll find alot of the older players typically only go for .com and .org over everything else. I've made quite a bit of money off of org's.

dcristo, why exactly wouldn't this get to the top ten if enough time was invested in it? I agree that Google does put quite a bit of trust into .org's. Look at wikipedia or dmv.org.

This has got to be the silliest statement I have read in a long time to justify a name. You are telling me when I want coffee/grains/beans and the cupboard is empty or perhaps I am shopping ahead I would rather go online, wait and then have my coffee when it arrives ? OR I could walk/ride a bike or drive to the store and have coffee in 10 minutes. Seriously the logic here is moronic. Im sorry I am a very nice person generally and encouraging but come off it for a wee second.

It is a commodity imo that has to be on demand. People dont buy a shirt or hat or car online because they need it in 10 minutes or the next morning as they do with their coffee . Some things are made for the net others are not. Specialty items ( coffee ) sure, to save gas, makes no sense.

I order my coffee online in one month supplies, I get free shipping and it saves me money. I can get my per cup costs down. I believe with anything if people can save money then they will! I talked to my dad yesterday and found out he orders coffee online also. We get our coffee in two days free shipping and get more of a selection then our local grocery store. I think flour and grains might be different but coffee sells well online from what I have seen.

People are going online more often to buy items right now in todays world. Think about it, gas is soon to hit $5 per gallon. So why not shop online and save money?

- books (paper, e-books)
- music (downlaods, CDs)
- movies (DVDs, videos, pay-per-view movies)

- software (shareware, licenses, anti-virus renewals)
