Good luck with the domain, me probably being daft, but do they have any meaning? I only prefer single/double word IDN's, in a users native language.

Hi rawkinrich,

My English is very poor, but I try to describe to you -

Let's say, when you find a symbol ☎

What idea will you have ~ it's a computer, it's a bus, it's a dog... ?

I believe that you will say - it is a telephone, but it's 'old style'

What is the meaning of sex.com <~ it is a domain name.

☎ + .com = ☎.com

What is the meaning of ☎.com <~ it is a domain name too.

For instance, probably you know [ ® ] much better than [ ☎ ]

What's the meaning of [ ®.net ] ?

If I answer that it is a domain name - means [ registration(mark) ] dot NET ~
will you accept it ?

Ps. I believe that most of people can not type ® on his keyboard at present stage.

What I mean is..

sex.com has an obvious meaning = sex. Is a massive keyword, and when searching for that keyword using a SE you have a massive chance of finding 'sex.com'.

☎.com = ☎.com. Are users going to search with '☎' in SE's? Or when they use the search terms 'black telephone'?

Thats what I'm generally coming from. Thats why I like 1 word IDN's, like Vendée.com, 東京.net etc.

Richard :ok:

'SEX' is too easy to remember...

☎ means TELEPHONE ~

For most of the people who speak English, TELEPHONE is a word, very easy to remember, but for lots of other people who can not speak & read English, probably it is difficult to remember or typing for them.

If we must give a memo to these people to help them to "follow" and typing the letter 1 by 1 on keyboard for [telephone.com] ~ then it is the same that we could give them the memo and ask them to typing [xn--y3h.com]

But I believe that it will much easiler for these people to remember - if they see a domain name : ☎.com

I don't understand why, but I just copied ☎.com from you post, pasted it in firefox and Sedo came up with a different symbol before the dot .com? Even when I type http://xn--y3h.com/ I get a music symbol.com.

Anyone else get this?

I am also getting that problem.

Also, how do you list IDNs on Sedo? (somewhat of subject)

The most easy way -

Go to the domainsite.com

type [ xn--y3h ] to check the availability; then you will find the resuld as -

[ xn--y3h.com (☎.com): Taken ]

As I never use the firefox, so I do not know what this symbol looks by firefox...
