In light of the soon to be USAGuide.info I have decided to run a competition to help provide decent content for the site (living in the UK I don’t know that much about the US)

Competition…

To enter this competition you will need to write a brief (5 – 15 lines) description/intro to your home state from the list below. Try and capture what you love so much about your chosen state, places to see and things to do etc…

The submitted text will be used as an introduction to the states page, which will also contain links to other sites, contact details of local attractions etc.

Any submitted entries will be used on the site.

Prizes…
1st prize - Currently $15 the more entries we get the higher the 1st prize goes!

URGENT UPDATES!

Top Prize is now on a sliding scale, the more entries we get collectively from DNF members the higher the 1st prize gets…

0 – 5 entries – 1st prize = $15
6 – 10 entries – 1st prize = $25
11 – 15 entries - 1st prize = $35
16 – 25 entries - 1st prize = $45
26 – 35 entries - 1st prize = $55
35 – 45 entries – 1st prize = $65
46 – 50 entries – 1st prize = $100!!!!

Plus you get 100 $DNF just for entering!

2nd prize - $ 10 for what we feel is the 2nd best entry

3rd prize $5 for what we feel is the 3rd best entry
Other prizes – 100 DNF for anyone who submits the **first** entry for any of the states below.

The competition will end late Thursday GMT

New Hampshire (The Granite State)

Mention New Hampshire, and many people think of a place to "escape" back to the easy going, quaint little town of their dreams of yester-year. They think of an Autumn scene with rolling hills bursting with glorious color and covered bridges over sparkling waters, or a winter wonderland in the White Mountains at some of the top ski resorts in the United States.

New Hampshire certainly fits the description above, but you should know a bit more. There are the people who call this place home. They're known as honest, down-to-earth, strong willed and independent. Their State Motto "Live Free or Die" reflects as much, as does the fact that the State has no income or sales taxes. Come election time, all eyes are on New Hampshire, as this State leads the Nation with the first Presidential Primary. Although somewhat laid back, don't misjudge the people here as just country bumpkins. While they may show up to meet you in a pick-up truck, or on a motorcycle (this State is home to the oldest of the big 3 motorcycle rallies in the U.S.) this is also a center for a large concentration of high tech workers. The State boasts one of the most respected Ivy League Institutions (Dartmouth) housing one of the oldest Medical Schools in the country, one of the top engineering schools (Thayer), and Global Market Studies at the famous Tuck School of Business.

With beauty, brains and brawn, New Hampshire and it's people are something to see, experience and enjoy.

Here is my entry:

South Dakota

South Dakota is home to Mount Rushmore which is known as the "Shrine of Democracy". Gracing Mount Rushmore are U.S presidents, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. Near Mount Rushmore is another mountain sculpture which is the bust of Crazy Horse, a great native american warrior. Whether you head east or west in South Dakota, you'll find something worthwhile doing, whether it's hiking the Black Hills, or gambling in the legendary gold mining town of Deadwood. If you like riding motorcycles, you won't be disappointed. South Dakota is also home to the "Sturgis Motorcycle Rally". In August every year bikers from around the world, about 500,000 in all descend upon Sturgis, SD. People like coming to South Dakota because of the unbridled beauty of the Black Hills, and the friendly people, so come see what you're missing!

Lol. I’m in a rush to get the content ready hence the rather short competition…

Anyway just incase you’re not the only one out there who was just about to submit an entry I will keep the competition open for the next few hours to allow for last minute entries.

Cheers
Rob

I know that the competition is over, but I will offer you a state anyway. I do not live in this state. I have visited there numerous times and wish that I did live there.

Hawaii- The Aloha State

Aloha. A word with many meanings. Aloha can mean "hello", "goodbye" or "I love you" just to name a few. This word also represents a spirit of the Hawaiian people. The Spirit of Aloha, if you have ever felt it, you will never forget it.

There are actually 132 various islands, shoals, reefs, and atolls which make up the Hawaiian archipelago. The Northwestern Hawaiian Islands stretch for 1200 miles past Kauai. The Hawaiian Islands are the most isolated bodies of land in the world. Many species of animal and plant are found nowhere else.

Perfect weather year round. Beaches so beautiful that you pinch yourself to make sure that you are not dreaming. Sunsets which exceed any words put down to describe them. Mornings that are quiet, yet full of sound. Birds singing and waves crashing upon the shore.

There is an island for everyone.

Oahu- Plenty of hustle and bustle, yet holds many sacred national treasures.

The Big Island- Room to roam, volcanos, the largest privately owned cattle ranch in the US.

Maui- Beaches, watersports, shopping, nightlife. This one has it all.

Kauai- Relax, kick your feet up, Kauai has a pace which takes time to adjust to. Once adjusted, it feels great!

Molokai- Kauai times two.

See aloha. Feel aloha. Live aloha
