Most of the ads i hear and see for contacts are for "contacts lens" instead of "contact lenses"

sure there are exceptions and sure lenses is plural

but 1-800 Contacts has trademarked the marketing slogan "The World's Largest Contact Lens Store" --- not the other version

so i'm surprised most folks would search with correct english :)

Search both on Google between speech marks and the plural has it by a margin of 4 to 1. Contact Lens Store is correct English. You would not say Contact Lenses Store, just as you would not say Records Shop or Cakes Shop.

A better examples is Shoes. I would take shoes.com over shoe.com and shoeshop.com over shoesshop.com every time!

Just think what a mess contactlensesstore.com is as a domain. Urg!

IMHO you have the most marketable version of the product. That being said, I don't see a big market for .tv...yet. As soon as the general public starts seeing ads with .tv, however, you'll be sitting pretty. Hang on to it...and good luck!
