www.ContactMe.com - I developed a premium email site, thats pretty cool.

To be honest i am thinking of selling up and going to sit on a beach in Australia. 10 years in the web has burned me out a bit, I could do with a recharge of sunshine.

Does anyone know any good sites where you can sell whole web business?

I would be keen to hear any feedback on what you think the domain is worth.

Thanks

Brian

very nice site ... curious as to how many customers you currently have? i'd say the domain and site alone are worth low $$$$-$$$$$.

btw .. nice screen name!

We have only just launched. The problem is we need loasof cash to market the site, so the temptation is there to sell it too a larger internet company who has the resources to market it properly.

Might just stick it on ebay ;-)

How much are you looking to sell it for? If you put it on ebay, you won't get much at all for it

ebay was a joke. Its main value is as a whole site. Its tricky to sell as it would only suit a company with the resources to promote it. Eg one of the newspaper sites for example.

Price for the whole site? who knows. I suppose whatever people are willing to pay ;-)

I might just keep it and see how it goes. Oh what i would give to win the lottery :)

The site is great but why pay if I can get gmail.com for free? It's really hard to beat the services provided by yahoo, hotmail or gmail.

Good luck to you.

I'd make a missing persons / contact people billboard, that will earn you publicity
then offer email accounts off that main page.

me AT contactme, just subscribed!

Is this a turnkey solution or you're running a commercially available script? As a domain alone, it's a catchy name.

From the screen shots on the site it appears to be backed by everyone.net. As it would appear to a newly established site the likelihood is that for each person who subscribes he has to pay x$ to everyone.net and probably adds x$ profit margin to whatever price he is paying.

Correct?

Rob gets the star prize. Yip we outsource the backend. We tried doing the email ourselves but it was a nightmare, so this way is easier.

'It's really hard to beat the services provided by yahoo, hotmail or gmail.'

I think this is our main problem, we have not differentiated the site enough from other email sites. I think we tried to go too main stream.

What i will do is either to revamp the design to bring the site more up market, basically attract people who like to stand out.

I also like the idea wiwineguy gave me of maybe developing it into some kind of social networking site. By a strange twist of fate i also own a dating site: http://www.sparkireland.com

I decided against using the name for the dating site. I like the idea of maybe developing it into a site for freelancers, where they can post their profiles and contact other freelancers.

The irony is i am an internet marketing expert, but like most experts i am unless at taking my own advice :) Its much easier to lecture to other people ;-)

Brian

No one has yet given an idea of value for the domain alone. Anyone care to have a stab at a price?

To me, this would also fit for a dating site as well. Along with the dating service your offering email.. I think it would be perfect for this site. The name is very catchy!

IMHO $30,000+ although I have a excellent pitch for it.. I would consider getting the name brokered if that is your plan to sell it

What do you mean by brokered?

Is that appointing an agent? Any recommendations?

I think i would like to sell the whole business, not sure how to go about it. Maybe contact sites directly? I can't imagine many large companies spend there time looking at any of the sites that offer websites for sale.

You can speak to Sedo, they have had some success recently with brokering domains on behalf of people

My immediate thoughts were that it would be best used for a dating site :)

yip - i was thinking that, but dating sites are easy to name so i thought it would not not be the best use for the name.

I will think about it over the weekend. One idea i had was to maybe offer websites as well as the email. so you could put your own homepage/blog up. So for example if you got the name [email protected], you would also get a mini website at john.contactme.com
