wow.... quite an impressive page they have now.

it's been broken for several days.

http://www.culinary.com/

they continue to prove that the domain was WELL worth $112,000

i think its already been established that the sale was just a joke, which i've been saying all along. the Pool.com affiliate banners that the domain was displaying were kind of a giveaway.

People should be allowed to develop without folk cackling at them. If a name like Auctions.com can sell for over 1 mllion dollars, then a name like Culinary should be able to sell for 112k, even if its an end-user price. Every domain marketeer has a story about tracking domains that sit unused and incomplete for years.

I'm just happy the owner of Culinary.com decided not to try and rush anything out. Everytime I hear CambridgeCulinary.com underwriting my favorite programs on NPR, I think of Culinary.com. Hopefully the site gets some good momentum, solid partnerships, and a keen business plan in place and blossoms. The Internet needs more of those.

i think you guys are going a bit far by saying it was a joke auction development takes time, i mean good development. unlike the turnkey sites you see selling here alot they may have said the site would be ready in... december? but that doesnt mean it will, i have a site that been sitting half done with a page saying comming soon due to the silly 24 hours a day :goofy:

Anyone remember the mega sale of beauty.cc? All that million dollar domain is being used for is nothing but a "coming soon" page for all these years.

yea if you have 112k to spare for the domain you can probably spare $500 for some decent web design company to make a nice temporary page..

gives the whole project much more credibility and could probably even now start to generate some returning visitors & bookmarks..

They could also not have the name resolve, and simply keep working until they have something. I think what they've got is fine. If it looked like the black, bizarre, hideous design that was originally there days after the drop, I'd have to agree with you. The current design doesn't use "bevel/emboss/dropshadow" to hideous effect, so it passes in my book. :p

i still maintain that noone with $112,000 to spend would possibly be dumb enough to spend it on such a mediocre name as Culinary.com. Food.com, yes. Eat.com, yes. But this name is far too weak. Its a mediocre adjective that is virtually never found by itself in the english language. I might go to Culinary School, or get a job in the Culinary Industry, but when was the last time you described something as just being culinary?

Yes but culinary.com could be used for all those OVT suggestions.

Well, I just learnt that subdomains can have a underscore in them. Reckon that!
