Perhaps if you monitor the sales forums and do some research on past sales, then you can establish some guidelines.

you have to be "active" to know prices.

I paid $360 for 4453.com at Pool.com on December 20, 2007.

I also bought 8944.com for $360 at SnapNames.com on February 1, 2008.

So I'd say the current price for a NNNN.com is mid $3xx.

Not all numbers are created equal. 4000.com is not worth the same as 4382.com
