I just barely sold Cushion.com and am now going through the Escrow process. Though I am happy with the price I'm getting, I am curious how some of your appraisals match up.

It was an end-user sale by the way.

Thanks in advance!

Hi...

Great name! I hope you did not sell it for less than $50,000, esp to an end-user. If its in an auction at Sedo or TRAFFIC, it will probably be $XXX,XXX. Thats just my guess.

Congrats!

Al.

Realistically, I'd say $20,000 - maybe up to $50,000 if you could match it with the right end-user. I don't believe it would be easy to sell for $xxx, xxx.

I think 50K+ is out of the question, I agree with Beachie here, its more a low $$.$$$ domain as the plural would be a lot better.

Thanks for the appraisals guys. I really appreciate it!

I guess it is pretty much agreed on the value of cushion .com. I sent out ten emails to possible end users, including those using "cushion" as their Adwords key word. This included a well known sneaker/shoe company, several companies that deal in custom cushions, and wheel chair seat cushions. Five days later I accepted an offer of 75k from a very motivated end-user. Funny thing, after I committed to sell cushion .com for 75k, a higher offer came in from the "shoe company" I had emailed earlier. I declined though, since a had already told the buyer I would sell it for the offered 75k.

There is no "market value" to a good motivated end-user. I am happy with the deal! Thanks again for the comments!

Geez man, this and B6 in a months time. You're doing very well for yourself. I don't know how much you paid for cushion but damn, i only wish i can be as successful as you selling my names to end users.

This has been a great month! I don't know why you couldn't do the same. Really, I am not doing anything special. I think there is a great deal of chance involved, in being at the right place at the right time. I tried just parking domains at Sedo and waiting.......and waiting.....and.. It hasn't paid off for me, but being proactive has. Contacting possible end-users through email works well. Keep it personalized and do your research. It sucks, so I don't know if many do it.

B6.com was bought by the same guy who purchased Wanted.com. He does a lot of his buying on eBay, which is how I sold B6.com. There are many options nowadays w/brokers and all kinds of forums and auctions, like the DNForum.

I am still very new to domaining. There is no reason why I can do this but you cant.

Congratulations, that's a great price on a fine domain!

Thanks Packeted!

Would you mind sharing the email format/wording that you used to approach the end users?

Congrats.

Thanks DDog!

Would you mind sharing the email format/wording that you used to approach the end users?

I would be happy to. Just be warned it is nothing special, and possibly a little too wordy.

"Hello,

I am the owner of the domain ______.com, and have recently decided to put it up for sale. There are many interested parties.

The benefit of having a generic dictionary word domains is the likelihood of type-in traffic. A significant portion of people will type the thing they are looking for into the URL bar with a .com tied to it, foregoing the search engines all together. With the increasingly high price of lead-generation nowadays, this provides a huge advantage over competitors getting a never ending supply of natural traffic.

You are a significant business in the ______ industry, so I thought you may want to know.

Please email me at _______________ with any questions or offers.

Thank you,
Name"

I can't stress enough the importance of keeping it personalized! Oh, and it doesn't hurt to have your domain match the criteria mentioned above :)
