For Sale Delete your own?

I'm curious if people can delete a domain registration from networksolutions, or I guess any registrar. If someone wasn't going to use it anymore and it was still registered for several years, could they delete it if they wanted to?. If they requested it to drop, would it?.

In fact some registrars do allow the names to be deleted. Early in the drop game you could register a name, try it for a couple of days to see if it had traffic and if not delete it at no charge.

I don't think any of them allow it except for mistakes now.

We have scripts for deletions as typically most registrars platforms have add, modify and delete commands in their software. But very few of them allow the day to day account holders access to the delete function.

World Wrestling Entertainment recently had Verisign delete all their WWF domains, including WWF.COM (which was registered till 2010)

Are you saying, that these names that WWF deleted, are now 'available' for registration? Just curious.

Many were actually with register.com.

Well they were. A couple of people seem to have enjoyed hoovering them up (BTW do Americans know what a Hoover is? Just curious!).

I believe that INWW allow deletes within maybe three days of registration.

the whole process was automated at joker.com and I noticed that it came up as available again today.
