Denic.de automatic renewals

anyone on here had any experience of Denic.de chasing payments? They keep sending me invoices for domains I know longer own. These domains by the way has expired and it seems they want me to pay for renewals ? domains were sold months ago but it seems the new owner did not update the ownership details.

I get alot of letters requesting payments
Can denic.de force me to pay for these renewals?

Yes, it's like .at. .de domains do not expire, until you renounce them.
But if the domains were not transfered in the proper manner, whomever you sold the domains to didn't really own them in the first place...
