Developing other country extensions for US use

Ok, let's say there is a .in name of "Cashing", so it's Cashing(.in). And let's say the dot com version is taken already and just parked.

Would it be worth it to invest time and money into developing the .in version?

I ask because most people who get the .in extension are probably aiming for the India market.

The site I would like to make would target the whole world population, not just India or the US (although US would be the largest market).

Thanks for any advice.

Most people who get .in domains are from Germany, Switzerland, UK, US etc. Most people who develop .in, do so for a global audience, there are tons of non-indian or even non-english sites on .in

If you're exclusively targeting the US you might want to consider a .us or an alternate .com though.
 
depends on your SEO skill and how SE's look at that extension.
Try one or two and see how it goes.
