Ive looked everywhere and cant seem to find a directory script to fit my needs.

I need a normal directory (eg. like yahoo) script that also has a separate section for featured listings. I have standard listings, but i need this featured section so i can have featured listings automatically added in its own table above the standard listings.

I need to be able to add listings from the web, but not allow users to add listings, just submit them for consideration.

If someone knows of a script which is similar, and could program in the modifications (with greater details) please feel free to PM me.

Thanks for the recommendation nascar1, but as far as i can see, hyperseek doesn't have the facility for to add sites as featured listings (automatically top) in each category.

This is the main thing that i need in the script.

Sure it does. I am using it and have a FEATURED SITE (even says Featured Site ) at the top of every page. Each category also gets it's own featured site or it wil run the default if none is chosen.
Since the FS option runs via a plugin, you can put it anywhere on the page you want.

I just switched www.taketoo.com to maxwebportal which is a free portal/directory script. It has way more functionality than what I need but it is the best free script I've seen yet (and I've tried a number of them out). It was also the easiest to install.

I find that aspin.com has some great directory scripts for free/low cost.

good luck
