Disclosing reserve prices .

Why do people PM me ,asking how much the reserve price is on a domain listing ?
What is the purpose of setting a reserve price ?
If bidders know the reserve ,they might stop bidding ..
Am I expected to tell those people or put the reserve price on my listing ?
And then the ask me "" only tell me ,I wont tell anybody else "
I tell them that even if i would tell him,that would not be fair for other bidders .
I am an honest person with anything I do .

Call it a reserve, call it a BIN, if you really want to sell something, you need to know a price and be confident enough to state it. If you want to be fair to everyone, as in the case of a public auction, then make it a BIN that everyone can see. Otherwise, in more cases than not, everyone's time will just be wasted.

Thanks .you make a valid point ..The domain is a 7N.com ..so still not sure what the value would be ...if i put a BIN ..i am committed to sell ..
If I dont get my reserve ,I can always negotiate with the bidders post auction

I usually drop it from my watchlist if I don't know the sellers expectations..

Most want to know what the reserve is so if its unreasonably high or more than they would be willing to pay they don't waste their time on the auction.
