Looks like our own "Sir Duke" got an honorable mention in the
New York Times today.

This is the NYTimes articles.

E-COMMERCE REPORT
Domain Names Are Big Again
By BOB TEDESCHI

THE dot-com gold rush may be over, but territorial claims can still be valuable. Dot-com domain names are fetching respectable prices again, after more than three years of attracting scant interest. Names like Truck.com, Beef.com and others have recently sold for more than $100,000, according to Domain Name Journal, a trade publication, while Web sites like Men.com, which offers a dating service, and sites selling pornography like Whitehouse.com are crossing the million-dollar threshold.

The rest of the New York Times article can be seen at this link.

Great article it should help us a bunch. Only thing I didn't like was the last part where they're trying to make it sound like everyone else is making money and Versign isn't. Verisign pulls in 27,020,015x$6= $162,120,090+ just off of managing .com alone. I feel sorry they are making so much damn money.

Nice and all, but I really don't think the entire article's contents should be scooped out and posted to this forum. A short blurb and a link does the job fine. This website is spidered by Google, so I don't think it would reflect well on the maintainers.

Nexus, I thought I was doing everyone a favor.

Normally, to read the article. You must subscribe or sign up (no cost) to
enter the New York Times site.

And, it takes time plus you will receive emails from them constantly.

In this way, you see the article without the hassle.

But, the next time. I will take your suggestion and just make a link.

Not all links require sign-up, and sign-up is free. I'm just senstive to the issue of lifting content and pasting it verbatim on another site for any reason. Don't mean to sound like I'm nit-picking, its just a huge pet-peeve though. Your intentions are awesome. :)

Best,

Nice Duke! If you don't get the times in your area (I'm sure you do) I'll try to find yesterdays paper for you somewhere. :)

Thanks GD. I was out today and meant to pick up a copy but forgot. I saved the webpage though (and no one can blame a dead tree on me)!

To avoid having to register for NYT:

1. Go to http://www.majcher.com/nytview.html
2. Save the page to your local drive
3. Enter the URL of the NYT article you want to view, in the box provided.

Funny how the article shows Dan Parisi :)

It's actually easier to register. Boycotting registration is a wonderful way to support the material (their material, their rules I'd say.) I'd suggest not reading it instead! :) Humans are such strange creatures...

Actually, I should have said it's a random generator; avoids having to enter all your wonderful personal details and email - as if we didn't have enough spam :)

Funny that. Spam is unsolicited commerical e-mail. When you register with the New York Times, like most legitimate businesses, they ASK if you want to receive anything or not. I've gotten nothing from them since registering years ago. Regarding "personal data"... two things... looking at the questions, is it REALLY that bad? Standard stuff in my opinion. Second, considering you can enter bogus data... its kind of irrelevant. People get themselves worked up over a whole lot of nothing too easily. Wastes a lot of time. I do my best not to subscribe to Paranoia Weekly. Too many real problems to be on guard about.
