I cannot seem to see an expiration date on a .de Whois info

No they don't. That's why there are so many of them.

Are you sure that they dont expire?
I am pretty sure they do. After all, i know one service that catches deleted .de domains...

They sure do expire. Reason that there are so many .de names is that Germany is a huge market and .de is the number one choice for Germans.

You wont see it in whois.
you can try to get a list of expiring soon domains at domaincatcher.de
i think they provide such a list.
