PT Barnum all over again.

Some webmasters and sysads are so desperate to impress the boss with being first on the search listings or pulling the traffic in they will do anything - hoping that this excessive inefficiency will be buried in a file somewhere collecting dust. You'd be surprised how few companies actually have a clue or a disciplined backend to correlate PPC clicks with ROI. If World.Com can do it, what do you think a desperate small fry in the computer room in a business will resort to.

This is not a theoretical discourse on the clinical applications and efficiencies of PPC, but rather an audit of the dirty tactics and human failings so prevalent in the REAL WORLD today.

I don't think some of the people here understand how much is spent daily on TV ads, billboards, radio, newspaper... NONE of which provide as much feedback and accountability as PPC.

Imagine the company that spends $10million on a series of TV ads for a week... and that week happened to be Sept 11 2001? Or the week Katrina hit? Nothing is guaranteed in advertising.
