Some days it feels like the internet has too many domains, endless clutter, abandoned sites, forgotten projects, and millions of names parked forever.
Other days, it feels like new ideas still deserve new names, and creativity shouldn't be limited by what's already taken.

So here's the question:

Do we need fewer domains or more?

I think the world doesn’t need more generic TLDs, it needs better ones and fewer of them.

The explosion of new gTLDs over the past decade has created more noise than value for most end users. While a handful like .app, .io, or .ai have carved out legitimate niches, the vast majority go unused or confuse customers who still instinctively trust .com dan ccTLD above all.

So rather than pushing for more TLDs, I’d argue we’d be better off stabilizing the space. Encouraging responsible use of existing extensions and letting the market, not registry marketing decide which ones truly earn their place.

That’s a thoughtful take, Discover

It also seems user behavior, renewal costs, and longevity quietly shape which extensions earn trust over time.

The world already has a lot of domains...,

CLEARLY, It's a distribution problem.

One part the world must convince the other why owning a domain is real important.

Educating seems to the challenge here. Owning is easy.

Lot of people are happy to build their startups/business/dreams on subdomains *.lovable.app, *netlify.app and be content about it.

I have a hard time to educate people who are "comfortable" with social media as their business address.

Whether I get buisness or not, I am spending my energy imparting knowledge on why identity is an important aspect in business.

On returns, ... I convince myself --- "Look at the brighter picture..".

Que sera... sera....!
