Warning on Trade Schemes
Hello fellow domainers. This article is just a warning about a glitch in eNom's DB. I'm not sure if its only eNom but I heard other registrars also have this flaw. A couple of my contacts have informed me of situations of them getting burnt in a trade. I doubt any real smart scammer would leave a paper trail so trades is what they are burning people on. What is happening is that crooks have found out that once you transfer a domain out of eNom, the domain still reflects in their whois database and also you can transfer and push this dummy domain just like any other domain. The truth of the matter is the registry hads already transferred the domain out of eNom. To test this theory I transferred a couple domains out of eNom to Network Solutions and sure enough, it was true. I was able to transfer this domain to another eNom account and the person can update the account info and the changes will reflect on the whois database. The truth is that NetSol is the real owner. I have just tested this theory last night so I don't know how long until eNom reflects the transfer but I have another domain that I will test to see actually how long it takes eNom to acknowledge these changes. Please be cautious of any domains you are trading, especially with a new forum member with no feedback. Check the whois on all the top dogs because as we observed in a previous thread, eNom has flaws. A deal too good to be true may be just that. I will update this article when I finish my research. My research was done only with eNom. I do not know about the other registrars. I don't know if this makes any since but I will try to answer any questions that may be raised. P.S. Dotster is suppose to have a similar flaw. I am yet to test this since I do not like their prices.
