I've seen HUNDREDS of auctions and make-offer threads sink with Zero replies or are bumped by the starter.
where is the activity at DNF?

Didnt purchase a membership to see my auctions be burried and posts ignored. I wont take that and neither should any domainer!

Is anyone interested on buying names or we got just sellers?
does the site have too many sub-forums?

who are these people?

Sure. If your post is ignored and the domain unsold in 10 days, the forum owner should pay you double the membership.

yes im sure there is junk, but at "free" forums ive sold high XXX and here just low XX.

maybe because of the less cluttered forum structure or better usability (try to find a link to your recent threads here, no not your recent posts, the threads)

I would always see your names for sale, simply because I check all new posts (Top-left: New Posts), and I know most domainers do the same who are here to make business. So no matter where you list your names, they will always be visible. Many people sold here $xx,xxx - $xxx, xxx worth of domain names, it's all about the quality of your names that you put up for sale.

On the more general subject "do domain buyers exist" how is everyone finding the current market, up or down on last year ?.

This is a great place if you want lowball offers and need to sell in desperation about a tenth of what they are worth,if you want good prices wait for a decent offer or go and hunt them yourself, that's the only way to sell them for a decent amount imho, forget this place.

Down i would say it's worse than last year,i mean look at some domains what have been sold for bargain prices...i have less offers and less sales this year than last year.

I've bought a few names over the past few months, all though PM, though.

There are buyers here but I've also noticed many domains are way overpriced - which will make any buyer go to the next thread.

Heck, I've even bought 3 drops over the past two months, that's more than what I average in a year - there are great names dropping and great bargains out there if you know where to look.

IMO, there are very few buyers here, or at other forums and venues. Unless your names are good keywords and offered at very low prices you will probably have little if any sales success and waste lots of time trying to sell. However, if instead you let them expire almost every one of them will quickly be picked up on the drop by some forum members, or places like BuyDomains.com (BD is by far the #1 drop buyer in my estimation), and other big players at a cost often HIGHER vs the price you would sell them for direct. i.e. a name you offered unsuccessfully at a forum for low $xx will cost the happy buyer at least $60 on the drop, or even a lot more at $xxx or $x,xxx if it gets into auction. Anyone know why that happens so much?

Exactly. If you want to see your names fetching 'good' money let them drop

There is just too much supply and too little demand in this industry.
Everybody wants to sell. I'm no different. I keep the best names and try to get rid off the more average domains (not too cheap if possible). That's why the forums are flooded with junk. In fact I think that we domainers tend to overestimate the size of the market or we are just too much ahead of our times

I routinely buy names here at DNF. Just bought one a few days ago. The problem recently that I have seen, is the combination of the poor economy and the lack of good names priced right.

In my opinion, there is way too much greed in domain names. A $8 or $9 name a person got on a drop or hand-registered can be listed for several thousand dollars (or more).

There is an overemphasis of "monetization," but not every domain (even good ones) can be monetized, nor in my opinion should be. Most of the good names were taken many years ago (in the .COM TLD). Trying to pry on of those names from a domainer for a reasonable price, is like trying to pull teeth from a badger. So you are left with a lot of low-quality (or no quality) names, and a few high priced names.

Hence, very little sales... And if you think you are going to beat all the drop-catchers and register the next Business.com or USA.com when it drops, you will likely be mistaken.

I bought over a dozen names this month. Lots of people are selling, but not that many quality domains.

Am I the only one who sees the irony of this thread when the OP asks about buyers on DNF when he has but one iTrader rating?

When (and where) do you do your buying? And selling?

A member since 2008 and a grand total of a whopping 20 posts and one iTrader rating.

We, the members of DNF, appreciate your patronage.

Has anyone seen that show Pawn Stars? The forum is a little like that as far as selling goes. If you have a decent name that a reseller believes he/she can make a good profit in the for seeable future...or at least can see a great potential in...you can get a sale but it will be a bit of a steal for the buyer because they are taking the risk in having to hold the name for a long period of time. If it is a great name, that is rare, valuable to many, and not seldom seen...you will get a better price and there are definitely buyers here who will shell out bank for those names....but we do not see many of those.
