Hi
a domain I am interested in has just passed its expire date at tucows. How long before it actually drops? I know each registrar is different and would be really interested to know members experience with tucows.

Go to www.SnapNames.com - check to see if the domain has a snap on it (enter name in top left box). If it has, forget it - or pray for luck :)

As an OpenSRS reseller, thewitt is correct. They almost ALWAYS drop expired names on EXACTLY the 41st day except for weekends. As industry insiders will tell you, they need to do so BEFORE the 45-day grace period in order to get a refund from the registry (since ALL registrars actually pay the registry that $6 on the very day the domain name expires).

Dear Dotcomster
I checked snapnames, and drats, there is a snapback on it. Anyone out there know how to beat snapnames?

Not me I'm afraid - but we do have real experts here.

Forty days - plus or minus the weekend.

hmm. I bagged 4 this weekend alone from Tucows.

Straight goods

Tucows drops in such a way that each drop actually spans two calender days.

Names are dropped on the 39-40 if the NS is exclusive to the domain. If not the domain is deleted manually on the 41 day.

As you know I am faithless, would you share with the forum the "four you bagged"?

I'm also interested in the "4 domains" very much.
Did they have SnapBack?

This was an educational thread for me. I did not know about the count for tucows. Read this thread so I knew when to expect it to drop. I ended up catching it through DropWizard.com. I also had a snap on the name and had been outbid for this domain at namewinner.com. Thanks all and good job, Gordon / DropWizard.com.

gmartfin- Are you going to pimp your followers? Show us who is the boss and share with us the "four names you bagged". We all want to see your "expertise" in action.
Oh, just out of curiousity, are you related to garet by any chance?

garet- What was the name that you "ended up catching"?

What a shuck and jive move! Why don't you and gmartfin give yourself and this forum some creditability. Why don't you divulge the names? It is interesting that when you are asked in a friendly manner to back up your claims you twist and turn the matter and make it personal to deflect from the question and avoid giving the answer. Why?

gmartfin- What are the "four names you bagged"?

garet- What is the name you claim was acquired for you?

Simple questions to answer, there should be no concern of confidentiality or privacy. Are you not proud of your accomplishments? Are you not going to resell these names? Why would you not want to disclose them? Why make derogatory comments to avoid the issue?

I agree with you, StockPilot.

As far as I know, the followings was dropped from tucows in last weekend and they had SnapBack;

enol.com -> rgnames
bottledgas.com -> SnapNames
enshrine.com -> SnapNames

I'm understanding the followings win SnapBack in most cases;

1. Compana(ascio/itsyourdomains)
very strong. e.g., legnano.com, lightfixtures.com
2. eastcom
very strong. e.g., rys.com, tonghua.com
3. rgnames
strong. e.g., 650.com, cybersex.net
4. DOREGI
strong. e.g., rec.net, 255.com
5. Club Drop
I'm not sure because of less sample. but it seems to be strong.

I think the aboves win SnapBack in most cases when they attack.
For example, SnapBack always loses 3-letter .com domains from tucows.

6. BuyDomains
7. ULT
8. Eurobox

I think the aboves control strength depends on domains.

9. Others
10. NameWinner

Are you living in "9", gmartfin?
Actually, I ordered "businessone.com" and you know the result.

Mohno -- I don't think gmartfin or garet love me anymore. It seems they are ignoring the opportunity to display their skills and accomplishments. It sure takes away from the creditability around here.

StockPilot, I think that "no answer" is the "answer". ;)
