Love your new Domain Forum widget

Although I disagree with listing namepros, I started the forum friends exchange because namepros does not allow mention of other forums on their site. As soon as you say dnforum it changes to rule_violation.

On DN.ca I put the title as Domain Forum Friends and if possible I would suggest you keep that going. It is all about the free exchange of information. I allow namepros links and links to any other resource and it should be a two way street.

I notice you added the flags which is how we always did it but because Germany has two forums I changed the links to show the domain names upon hover.

See below...

Two approaches and both are quite nice but I still think calling it Domain Forum Friends has more meaning and shows friendly supporting forums.

Hi Frank, thank you for the positive feedback. This is the second approach, call it: v2 :)

We will have another one, v3 is coming at some point, as the main issue is: this solution isn't scalable + consumes the right side widgets area.

:)

About Namepros > we aren't afraid of them, and, we acknowledge that they are a decent forum :)

.. Bring it on! :) .. in the economy, when a force puts a target on another major force > the main winner will always be the user!

Another nice update, looks fantastic, but you know me and how I love things to look clean clean clean

Move in forum behind France, that moves everything down.

Now the two blue tiles will frame the bottom similar to the description at the top, theoretically giving you the look of a top and bottom framed bar.

I am an eternal fuss bucket to keep things super clean so little things catch my eye right away.

@DNF Admin hi Prashanna, let us re-do our approach.. shall we try the DN.ca one with flags? .. and instead of the USA > we could use something else stating these are global forums (I haven't seen any US-centric domain forum so far).

Thank you

p.s. @MapleDots , hi Frank, what happened to your forum friends section? .. stumbled upon some bad apple? .. really curious.. And, I can openly say > the dn.ca forum layout is close to perfect!! I love your approach to minimalism and great design.

I started running into problems fitting them in because of all the flags, you keep getting too many darn forums.

I can give you the code but I moved it into our tools section here:

I have supplied all the necessary code for mobile and desktop versions

Also reactivated it at the very bottom of DN.ca if anyone wants to see what it looks like.

I will keep it active on my site

Found some more, two under Germany & USA

Unfortunately the Turkey forum has gone dark.

Every forum uses their respective ccTLD except Russia who (for some strange reason) is using a .net instead of a .ru

:( ahhh.. this is sad :( .. really sad... maybe because of high VPS costs? is there a chance you have their contact? .. Xenforo can be hosted on HostMaria shared cloud for $24.50/year only :) .. you would need a VPS only when software tools are being deployed (like our live auction feeds).

hmm.. this is a strange choice.. yes, most of the world does not like RU right now (especially me), but your local cctld is your strongest signal of belonging to some specific region..

I think 8 of the 14 forums in total have your mark on them right @Helmuts

It's nice to have ccTld's properly represented

There is only one trick to make a ccTLD forum successful, you have to remove the OTHER marketplaces and make it strictly for the ccTLD it is intended for.

We talk about the whole industry but I have removed .com and others from the marketplace because there are forums that already do that.

We are now exclusive .ca and anyone looking for that seeks us out, we do not try to be anything else and that has grown us into the biggest .ca resource in Canada. In fact all the big brand forums have almost no .ca talk because it does not make sense, they just as covering .com makes no sense on a .ca forum.

I wish the other forums would stick to their language and their ccTLD, we could really have a network that spans the globe.

Remember no global forum can cover the regional markets thoroughly because of language barriers. French should be french with the french ccTLD etc etc.

Forums don't have to be huge, they have to be niche, representing what they do well and members will seek them out.

My fave is Acorn, it does it well even though I think it should only cover local tld's.

I have added NamePros on our forum friends simply because we need a global presence as well:

Too bad namepros still does the rule_violation every time another domaining forum is mentioned but if I have my way they will eventually open that up and truly join the network of domaining forums.

I encourage all domaining forums to look at the bottom of DN.ca and join the Domain Forum Friends network. I started that to help everybody, it only makes sense we share regional links without thinking anyone is stealing traffic or members. If I am a Canadian I will join the global and regional forum, there is no competition, it's about who does what that counts.

PS. Remember people have second languages so they will probably join Global, Regional (where they live), and whatever other language they speak.

DF: Creators, Credit, Consumption, and Capitalism --> An ideology catering the 1%, perhaps?

Digital feudalism isn't really about the term “1%”.. it is more about about control and responsibility, and also risks associated to it.

.. it is like: a “farmer” (a founder or company) manages to get some wealth, takes a loan and buys out their neighbor farm, then the next farm, and so on. Over time, they’re no longer just running a business - they're setting the rules for everyone else around them. They influence the culture, the markets, even public behavior - not because they're profitable, but because they own the infrastructure others depend on. .. and, the same as for a farmer, similar happens in digital world.

.. not quite the same as the traditional 1% who are just wealthy. Digital feudalism is about centralized influence and dependency, not just income or net worth.

what I always think about is that in the real world 99 of 100 small business owners don’t even make it far enough to worry about aquiring other businesses - they're just trying to survive - pay the bills. And, most don’t rely only on their main business (have other streams of income), and many don’t last beyond five years.

I come from a country that experienced the other extreme - the plague of communism - yes, capitalism has serious flaws though it is still the best system we, peaople, got. .. my thoughts only, of course :)

I had to look that up, still not a 100% clear

apologies :D :D .. also, only recently (beginning of this year) heard this term... ir was mentioned as a possible danger to a niche if 1 force takes over all the major players.. .. My dream of Namepros is still alive - though if this happened > there (out of it) would appear tonnes of little independent domain name forums :D :D :D
