Thought I'd resume the "idiot of the day" now that offers have begun to pick up again:

Idiot #3

Subject: Inquiry about (Awesome two word Forex domain regged back in 2003)

>Hello
>I am buying some domain names and came across Forex_.com. Are you willing to sell this domain name?
>If yes I am offering you $250 for this domain. I am giving you 48 hours to reply before I go for another domain
>Thanks
>J.G.

Reply:

Translation: Not only am I going to low ball your domain but you've only got 48 hours to accept it.

Signed: Domain Rookie.

Dude, you need to find a different approach. You've obviously only performed a cursory inspection of How to Win Friends and Influence People.

(facepalm)

My response would be exactly as follows;

"The number you quoted looks fair. Remove the decimal and we'll talk."

Got this one this week:

Needless to say, I explained it to her.

Just an FYI, Doc, you revealed a few email addys there.

And well put. Though a bold tell-off might get the message across in a more offensive manner, should that have been your intention.

I've had more enquiries in the last month or two than the whole rest of this year.

People seem to want to pay in the $200 to $800 range. Hard to get them to go $1000 or higher.

It's been quite a while since I read How to Win Friends and Influence People, but I don't think being rude was in the book.

Even in response to an "idiot," it takes no time to say, "No Thanks, I am trying to sell for $10,000," and once in a while if they become more realistic, a sale happens.

If anything, the book, How to Win Friends and Influece People has be questioned for encouraging people to be too polite to the point of sucking-up, such as pretending to like their hobbies.

Fixed the addys.

I get so many of these. I'm a student, we're a non-profit, I mistakenly dropped this name...this particular dude basically wanted a response. I was tired so I gave him one...No.

Not everyone that does this is an idiot. Some people just don't know what domains are worth.

I usually respond with something like....

Thanks for the offer but we are quite far apart in our valuations of the domain/s you inquired about.
I would be looking in the low $$$$ range. If that works for you please get back to me.

Good luck with your domain search.

What do I care if someone is trying to get my domain with a stinky offer...or they just don't know. They aren't getting it unless we both find a price we can live with....and I have many sales that result from a lowball start. And if I am unbearably indignantly insulted:smilewinkgrin:...I have a delete key.;)
